Thanks EnergyLab for presenting InfigoLabs with the opportunity to explain our value proposition through a panel discussion at the All Energy Australia conference in Melbourne last week. InfigoLabs has invented a hydrogen use-case that plays to the strengths that this unique molecule brings, while avoiding its downsides. Thus, we use it to produce very intense heat (hydrogen is a fuel with the highest heating value per unit mass) by drastically slowing down its explosive reaction with oxygen (not using air - avoiding wasting energy to the 78% nitrogen in air) - achieving a hot flame of pure steam, with true zero emissions. We are not transporting hydrogen, as we consume it in-situ, and we recycle the produced steam back as water - not imposing a water footprint. Production of heat in the form of a flame is important for very high temperature processes - as we do not have any "device" in the heat path, thus providing much needed reliability - while maximising chemistry yields in industrial processes. When using green energy, we minimise the green premium by increasing product yields (particularly in ethylene - the largest volume molecule humans utilise), and also provide a "battery" of gas stores capable of deep diurnal discharge - with the storage vessels having the same life as the downstream asset, with zero energy degradation, minimal lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) impacts – very unlike large Lithium-ion batteries. Moreover, operating our reactor under pressure - we retrofit injection of heat into existing facilities, with minimal modifications. Thus, our technology will maximise reuse of most existing assets in the hard-to-abate sector. At InfigoLabs Pty Ltd, we are pleased that the European Union is incorporating full lifecycle emissions footprint into their project evaluations. Cradle-to-grave emissions that account for entire product life cycle (raw materials, processing, transport, usage and end-of-life waste/recycling ability) will remain key in comparing technologies in their ability to decarbonise our planet. As example, InfigoLabs Hydrox Combustion Technologyᵀᴹ based ethylene cracker not only completely decarbonises steam cracking (currently accounting for 8% emissions of the entire chemicals sector), but the resulting hydrogen from our zero-carbon footprint pyrolysis process is a valuable, byproduct (termed as turquoise hydrogen), that can be used to cost-effectively decarbonise long-haul road transport. This is how InfigoLabs Pty Ltd focuses on adding value for our customers with fit-for-purpose, retrofittable solutions. The hard-to-abate sector imposes large, sustained demands of hundreds of MWs of high-temperature thermal energy.
