🌟 My Journey to Neurological Physiotherapy (and why you should join me!) 🌟 I've seen some new faces in my network so thought I'd share my story as a neurological physiotherapist and founder of Innervation Physiotherapy and Innervation Lab —and invite passionate early and mid-career physiotherapists to consider joining us as the next step in your physiotherapy journey! My path to becoming a neurological physiotherapist has been anything but traditional. I actually began my career in marketing but, after facing redundancy during the 2009 financial crisis, I found my true calling in an unexpected way: volunteering at an early intervention centre for children diagnosed with neurodiversity and/or physical developmental delays. This experience ignited a passion for helping people and led me to pursue a Doctor of Physiotherapy at The University of Melbourne. Throughout my DPT program, I was fortunate to work in various neurological-focused placements: from a paediatric early intervention centre for children with cerebral palsy, to a progressive neurodegenerative ward and Royal Park Neuro Out-Patients. These formative experiences not only cemented my love for this field but also drove me to seek similar opportunities in my elective placements. Like many, I faced my own challenges along the way—including burnout as a new graduate and personal health struggles. These experiences have shaped my approach to patient care, business, and mentorship, emphasising empathy, collaboration, and a love for continuous learning. Today, I’m incredibly proud of the work we’re doing through Innervation Physiotherapy, our mobile service that reaches communities across Victoria and Northern Tasmania, and Innervation Lab, our new gym space in Thomastown dedicated to delivering evidence-based neurological rehabilitation and fostering community links to enable people with different abilities to participate in sports and recreational activities. Together, these separate but aligned businesses are driven by a vision of compassionate, enhanced participation and innovative care for people with complex neurological conditions. If you’re an early or mid-career physiotherapist who shares a passion for neurological rehabilitation, or you are a seasoned #sportsphysio looking to explore how to assist people with low mobility to participate in sports—I would love to connect with you! At Innervation Lab, we’re building a team that values work-life balance, support, and growth. I’m looking to hire both new graduates and experienced physios. So if you're AHPRA registered and have working rights in Australia, let’s connect and explore how we can rehabilitate those with neurological injury and transform sports and recreational participation for people with different abilities! #NeurologicalPhysiotherapy #Hiring #HealthcareInnovation #SportsandRec #NeuroandSportsworktogether
