Intract along with Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and Department for Energy and Mining, South Australia (DEM), had the privilege of attending the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Cultural Awareness Training session ahead of our upcoming demolition works at Mintabie. APY General Manager Richard King, Tania King, and APY Chairperson Bernard Singer delivered a highly informative and engaging session, providing all attendees with valuable insights into the history, current status, and culture of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands and people. The training also covered essential protocols for working and travelling on APY lands, as well as commonly used Pitjantjatjara words, including their pronunciation and meanings in English. Intract has been engaged by Department for Infrastructure and Transport to decommission, clean up, and make safe the former Mintabie township. This project aims to return the area—located on APY land—to the APY community by removing dwellings, secondary buildings, abandoned vehicles, mining equipment, and other infrastructure. We appreciate the opportunity to undertake these important works and look forward to working closely with the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara community throughout the project.

Intract Australia is proud to announce the successful completion of the Inman Valley Road Project for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. Located approximately 7.8km east of Yankalilla, the project site presented unique challenges, with a steep slope to the north and a grassy paddock to the south. The scope of work included the installation of a rock retaining wall, as well as stormwater and pavement repairs. We were pleased to collaborate with fellow Indigenous business, Zancott Recruitment Pty Ltd, to efficiently manage the busy traffic lane next to our narrow work zone, ensuring the project was completed safely and on time. A big thank you to the local road users and property owners for their support and positive engagement throughout the project. We also extend our gratitude to the Department for Infrastructure and Transport for the opportunity to contribute to these important road upgrades. We look forward to the next project!
