On International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we’re reflecting on how our ‘We care’ value drives us to create a supportive, non-judgmental workplace where everyone feels safe discussing crucial issues, including family violence. With this in mind, this month we hosted a webinar with Dr. Dony Chacko an expert in psychological safety and leadership, to shed some light on the current state of family and domestic violence in Australia. By normalising these conversations just as we did with our Respect@Work program, we aim to build a healthy, safe and thriving workplace. #NoExcuse #InternationalDayfortheEliminationofViolenceAgainstWomen

🚨 **Attention ** 🚨 Our latest safety video is here with tips on how to safe if you suspect a gas leak ⬇️ If you’re at home or work (or even out and about) and detect the scent of rotten eggs, it could be a gas leak. Here’s what to do: 🔵Firstly, provided it is safe to do so, turn off any ignition sources like cooktops or barbeques, and remove flammable items such as matches or aerosol cans, - then leave the area quickly. 🟢Next, call Jemena on 131 909 at any time of day, any day of the week to let us know you think there’s a gas leak, so we can assess or fix any problem. 🔵If the leak is outside and away from your property, you can report online at 👉 https://lnkd.in/gnngYbdZ For more information visit https://lnkd.in/gUujdyhT #GasSafety #SafetyIsATeamEffort

Want to learn more about community batteries? Watch this video to learn how community batteries help stabilise the electricity grid while enabling more homes to install rooftop solar. Over the coming months we will be installing four community batteries across our electricity network in Victoria. The community batteries will store energy, often soaking up power generated by rooftop solar during the day. The energy will then be shared with nearby homes and businesses through their existing electricity supply, this will often occur in the evening when there is more demand on the electricity grid. Homes and businesses on the same low-voltage network as the community battery will automatically access the energy it stores through their existing electricity supply. The Jemena Electricity Network has been awarded up to $2 million in funding to deliver the community batteries through the Australian Government’s Community Batteries for Household Solar Program. For more info on Jemena’s community battery rollout visit: https://lnkd.in/gbfCPy7F

Data centres store much of the applications we use every day, from banking apps to Netflix. We have been working with Zinfra on a major upgrade to one of Melbourne's largest data centres, doubling the power capacity at the NEXTDC M2 Melbourne Data Centre. This is just one of a number of projects underway to connect or upgrade connections for data centres across Jemena’s electricity network. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g9TE9DVU

Look up and Live. If you’re working near electricity, you need to plan ahead. You don’t have to make contact with a powerline for it to be fatal. Electricity can jump if equipment or machinery gets too close to powerlines. It is critical that safe distances are maintained from live electricity. If you are undertaking any work, you need to know the relevant guidelines to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. The Look Up and Live app is free and includes overhead powerline locations and imagery via an interactive map. To download the app or to learn more about safely working near Jemena’s overhead electricity infrastructure visit https://lnkd.in/g8sjZfcZ
