📢 Starting 1 January 2025, the Vacant Residential Land Tax (VRLT) in Victoria will apply statewide. ➡️ VRLT may apply to properties that were not: - Used as the owner’s (or a permitted occupant’s) principal place of residence; or - Subject to a lease or other good faith arrangement. Why should you worry now? Firstly, how your property was used throughout 2024 will determine whether a VRLT liability arises in 2025. There is still no FBT payable IF the cost is under $300 per person as it’s considered a minor benefit. 3. What about if you celebrate with clients? You don’t pay FBT on client costs. 4. Is it time for a work reset? As we approach the end of another working year, it’s natural to feel a little stuck or have an itch when thinking about work. Before you fire up Seek and dust off the resume, try doing a work reset to see if there are things you can add or subtract to help improve your work life, e.g. working on more projects with a respected colleague whom you learn from. 1. Start by checking in - how are you doing? How are you feeling and thinking? How are your energy levels? What has consumed you at work this year? Have there been tasks at work that drain you? 2. Next, look at your values. What’s important to you at work? Have things become less / more important to you? How do your values show up (or not show up) for you at work? 3. Finally, perform a reset. Looking at your reflections - are there things at work that drain you that you can remove? Every job comes with boring or unwanted tasks but maybe there are ways you can delegate, automate or collaborate to find more enjoyment in them. What can you add to your work life to create more enjoyment and/or align more to your values? Are there things outside of work that you can do to help at work? Finding time to pause and regularly reflecting on your work life (and life life) is a great way to ensure you’re your happiest self at work or in business. Decided you’re ready for a career change?
