  • The Future of How We Develop People Is Circular ♻️ When we work with a circular mindset we adopt a continuous approach to learning and development. One where wisdom and expertise is captured and not wasted. A workplace where L & D opportunities are fair and equitable. At the moment a lot of the time these are not. Thank you to Reanne Besa for working with our Founder Ali Uren ♻️ to bring this approach to life and capturing the essence of it. Three reasons why Kiikstart created The Circular Workplace ♻️ 1️⃣ Solve organizational brain drain by removing learning leaks and wasted wisdom in day to day delivery. 2️⃣ Link people growth to commercial outcomes - seamlessly. 3️⃣ Empower purpose led teams to turn "too hard" challenges into opportunities via entrepreneurial thinking. So teams own the outcomes not the experts. Skilling and re-skilling matters but it's how we develop these skills ongoing every day that matters most🧠 PS If you're a purpose led Leader serious about de-risking brain drain please follow Ali Uren ♻️and subscribe to their monthly LinkedIn newsletter - The Experiment 📙

  • Strengths Matter But This Matters More 👇 Giving your people, regardless of role, the capability and environment needed to think and respond differently to skill gaps, threats and risks. Why? Because not every strength in the capability tool kit is going to solve every challenge you face. Now and into the future. Reject the premise that only strengths create opportunities and are good for our people and bottom line. Not sure how but curious to learn more please DM Kiikstart. • So, what did hands on training with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) teach our Founder Ali Uren that can be use every day in the workplace? 1️⃣ Be clear on your purpose 2️⃣ Focus on what you need to do and don’t be distracted 3️⃣ Don’t lose your flow; once this happens it gets hard to get it back 4️⃣ Work in partnership with people; many people help achieve the outcome 5️⃣ Have quiet confidence; but do not get too far ahead of yourself 6️⃣ Have a go and do not regret doing something; sometimes the opportunity won’t come again 7️⃣ Have tactics and an idea of how you can and may respond in a certain situation 8️⃣ Smarter tactics always get a better outcome; think and don’t rush just to get through an uncomfortable situation. The outcome is never good. • Are redundancies a simple HR transaction or should there be a social responsibility element as well ❓ In the case of Coca Cola, when they decided to cease manufacturing operations in SA, they knew many of their staff were going to be entering a very competitive employment market in SA with limited opportunities. They chose the socially responsible path. Staff at all levels were impacted by this decision, from factory floor all the way up to senior management. No matter their role, experience or education, they were all given the same opportunity to get ready for the next step in their career and, most importantly, they were all in control of their own journey. Coca Cola embarked on a 12 month program of personalised support for their staff, with outstanding and positive results with over 92% of all employees employed by project end. This still remains on of Kiikstart's most memorable projects. • Critical thinking, complex problem solving and creativity are all consistently identified as the most valuable traits in not only Leaders and Managers, but also teams. Regardless of function or department. But you cannot have one without the other, so what's the difference? 💡Critical thinking is assessing complex facts to form a judgement or opinion. 💡Complex problem solving is finding a practical solution to challenges, roadblocks to at times complex issues. This is an essential part of critical thinking. 💡Creativity is the level of distinctiveness, and unexpectedness in which the solution is delivered in terms of its style and manner. Interested in developing all three of these skills not only in yourself but your team, please connect in with Kiikstart by DM or via email at enquries@kiikstart.com PS If you're a purpose led Leader and you've got an interest in continuous learning that tackles brain drain, please subscribe to our Founder, Ali Uren's monthly newsletter - The Experiment 📙

  • You are already good at your strengths, so the ability to vastly do different is limited. The commonly held belief, to focus on strengths only, will not cut it anymore. It is counterproductive to growth, finding new opportunities, and getting unstuck. At Kiikstart, we are calling out focusing solely on a strength-based learning approach. If we want to create an exponentially different business or career, we need to think differently about our skill gaps, threats, and risks. And how we respond to these together. The truth is focusing only on your strengths is not going to solve every challenge you face.
