𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 “𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗵𝗮𝘂𝘀"? Many of our projects reach Passivhaus Standard – such as the CLT Canopy House – but what does that really mean? The Passivhaus standard is an energy-efficiency benchmark for buildings that significantly reduces the need for heating and cooling. Developed across Europe and commercialised in Germany, it requires buildings to use no more than 15 kWh of end-energy per square meter per year for heating and cooling. This is achieved through high levels of insulation, airtight construction, high-efficiency insulative double- or triple-glazed windows, efficient ventilation systems with heat recovery, and – particularly important in Australia – external shading. Passivhaus buildings maintain a stable, comfortable indoor temperature with minimal energy use, cutting heating and cooling costs typically by 80- 90% compared to conventional buildings. With a very high airtightness, KLH® - CLT provides an optimal framework for buildings that aim to reach the Passivhaus standard. 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 As our projects have proven, our KLH® - CLT buildings achieve air-change-per-hour (ACH) values of between 0.1 and 0.2 at a 50 pascal pressure differential (ACH50). For context, the maximum allowable ACH50 for new buildings certified to Passivhaus standards is 0.6, while the limit for retrofit Passivhaus buildings is 1.0. This performance highlights the superior airtightness of our KLH® - CLT elements compared to standard benchmarks. 👉 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: https://lnkd.in/dDgBiVyX 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Putney, Sydney 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱: 2024 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗟𝗛® – 𝗖𝗟𝗧: 104 m3 / 843 m² 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻: 85 tonnes (Regrowth time in Austria: about a minute and a half) 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: Still Space Architecture 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿: Minard Construction 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆: Brett Boardman Photography

Since our KLH® - CLT installation in September last year we've been actively following the building progress on this Passivhaus building in Putney, Sydney and are excited to hear our clients have moved in and filling the space with life! The countless steps between the construction of the CLT building envelope and the finalisation of the build involves many hours of other dedicated professionals – our contribution is just one of the early steps in the big building puzzle. All the more satisfying when we get to see the puzzle pieces come together, especially when they yield such a lovely home! 👉 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: https://lnkd.in/dDgBiVyX 📍𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Putney, Sydney 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱: 2024 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗟𝗛®️ – 𝗖𝗟𝗧: 104 m3 / 843 m² 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻: 85 tonnes (Regrowth time in Austria: about a minute and a half) 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: Still Space Architecture 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿: Minard Construction 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆: Brett Boardman Photography

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 | 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 We’re busy preparing for an exciting commercial project in Canberra. Over the coming months we will finish preparing 22 structural KLH® - CLT timber “oriels”, which are bay windows. Some of these trafficable windows are nearly the size of a commercial shipping container, spanning 8.5 metres in length, 2.5 metres in depth and 3.5 metres in height! They will mechanically attach to a tilt-up concrete façade through steel angles. 📍𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Canberra, ACT 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗟𝗛®️ – 𝗖𝗟𝗧: 85 m3 / 590 m² 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻: 67 tonnes (Regrowth time in Austria: a little over 1 minute) 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁: BVN Architecture 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 / 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿: Renrow Steel 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿: Doma / BLOC
