We're excited to share that our inaugural flagship Riesling, the 1878 Transcendence 2024 Riesling, has been named one of Max Allen’s Top 20 Drinks of the Year in the Australian Financial Review! This recognition is a true honour, and we’re beyond proud to see our Riesling celebrated in such a prestigious publication. Truly a testament to the passion and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle at Knappstein. Our 1878 Transcendence 2024 Riesling has been described by Max Allan as great for drinking now but also with excellent aging potential. Released alongside its counterpart, the 1878 Transcendence 2021 Shiraz to help celebrate 50 years of winemaking this year at Knappstein, both of these wines are only released in exceptional years, making them perfect wines for gifting, with beautiful packaging accompanying each bottle. Knappstein Winery has just released its inaugural, strictly limited, 1878 Transcendence range, consisting of a 2021 Shiraz and 2024 Riesling. By definition, transcendence occurs when somebody or something does or feels something that goes beyond the ordinary, breaks boundaries, or rises above anything previously experienced. In that vein, the 1878 Transcendence range is an evolution of Knappstein’s current collection, an ascension to the pinnacle of their portfolio that serves as a testament to their unwavering dedication to making wines that have garnered as much love and loyalty amongst wine lovers as they have awards (of which, they have won many). While the 1878 Transcendence prices reflect their premium status within Knappstein’s range, they still honour the winery’s commitment to achieving approachable prices for wine-loving consumers who seek sublimely good value for their investment. 1878 Transcendence also honours the custodianship, innovation, and legacy of excellence created within the historic walls of Knappstein’s 1878 Enterprise Building, a beloved landmark among the Clare Valley community. 1878 Transcendence references the year that Fanny Filgate (the daughter of Clare’s founding father Edward Burton Gleeson), built the Enterprise Building so she could commence her brewing business. Working with Black Squid Design in Adelaide, we’ve sought to honour Knappstein’s rich legacy in crafting exceptional wines with an elegant & contemporary perspective. We were delighted to participate in Vinexpo Hong Kong, which took place from May 28th to May 30th in Hong Kong. This premier event provided an invaluable platform to connect with some of China's leading wine importers and distributors to help showcase the exceptional offerings from a selection of premium Australian wineries. We were also privileged to meet with the Australian Ambassador to China, His Excellency Mr Scott Dewar as well.   Throughout the event, we engaged in productive discussions with a multitude of esteemed importers and distributors, fostering new relationships and strengthening existing ones. The enthusiastic response of Clare Valley wines we presented was very encouraging.   We are confident that these connections will pave the way for bringing some of the best Clare Valley wines to discerning Chinese consumers.   We would like to thank everyone involved in putting on such an incredible event, as well as the support from Wine Australia & Austrade.
