On Monday, the 30th of September, the La Trobe University Law Students' Association hosted the 2024 Maurice Blackburn Lawyers Firm Presentation. We would like to thank La Trobe Alumni, Sharni Robinson (Lawyer) and Samantha Barnett (Talent Acquisition Manager) for their time and for sharing their valuable insights. Our students had the opportunity to learn about Maurice Blackburn, what it offers and had their questions about the firm answered. The La Trobe University Law Students' Association is proud to have hosted a highly successful Careers Connect Fair at the William Angliss Institute on Thursday, 19th of September. The event provided our law students with an opportunity to engage with the law firms and organisations in attendance and gain invaluable insights into the legal profession. On Tuesday 25th of September, the La Trobe University Law Students' Association hosted the 2024 Clayton Utz Utz Mental Health Panel. Thank you to Clayton Utz for sponsoring this event. We would like to thank Adrian Vosk (Clayton Utz, Senior Associate), Carlie Andrews (Hive legal, Senior Associate), Claire Humble, Mental Health First Aid Instructor) and La Trobe’s own Stephanie Falconer (Associate Lecturer) for their time, for answering questions and for sharing their experience and knowledge on mental health. We would like to thank Adam May from ACAP and Kathryn Smith from the LIV for their time and for sharing their valuable insights. Our students had the opportunity to learn about the ACAP PLT program, what it offers and had their questions about the program answered. On Wednesday 19th of August, the La Trobe Law Students’ Association hosted the 2024 Hive Legal Firm Presentation. We would like to thank Lizanne Kleyn-De Villiers (Senior Associate) and Jasmine Joyce (Stylianou) (Lawyer) for their time and sharing valuable insights into the firm. Our students also had the opportunity to learn about Hive Legal, their graduate opportunities and ask questions. Throughout Week 12, the Education Portfolio has been busy organising and running the bi-annual Law Q&A’s, in which academically high-achieving students and alumni host Zoom sessions of core law subjects to answer questions, go through practice problems & give advice that will benefit younger students for their exams.
