About us

LEAD Professional Development Association Incorporated is a not for profit, a non-government association dedicated to providing Professional Development and Training opportunities to people supporting families in Western Sydney. For over thirty years we have been providing dynamic, cost-effective and local workshops, seminars, forums, conferences and training sessions across a wide range of topics and issues that are current to the needs of individuals and organisations working with families. From humble beginnings in 1984 when we received our initial funding to train family workers to enable them to work more effectively with families, we have grown considerably over the years. Through consultation with Co-Ordinator’s of Family Support Services in the Blacktown and Parramatta areas, a range of workshops were facilitated. We continue this practice today; facilitating events that are based on the needs of local family support workers. LEAD is managed by a Board of Directors, which is formed from our memberships. The Board meets every second month and is responsible for the overall strategic plan of our association. Our reputation and success have been built on the delivery of high-quality learning experiences that are based on best practice and the evidence base in those relevant disciplines. We also work collaboratively with a range of organisations to build capacity throughout our sector and strive to meet the emerging learning needs of both individuals and organisations. If the Professional Development or Training topic you are looking for is not on our calendar, please contact us. We can arrange in-house training for your staff at a very competitive price. Simply email your request to info@leadpda.org.au

  • Did you miss week two of our 'Mindfulness' sessions? The topic of 'automaticity' was explored, delving into our own tendencies to operate our daily lives in autopilot. Here is some feedback we received from a participant- "The session last Tuesday was incredibly informative and thought-provoking. It provided great insights into how many of our actions are often performed on "autopilot," and the importance of being more mindful and present in the moment. The facilitator did an excellent job of explaining the concept and highlighting how easy it is to go through daily tasks without fully engaging with our surroundings or ourselves. I found the practical tips and strategies shared during the session to be particularly helpful. They were simple yet effective ways to increase mindfulness and create space for ourselves throughout the day. The advice on taking time to breathe and focus on the present moment was especially valuable, as it’s something I can apply immediately to improve my overall well-being and awareness. Overall, it was a very insightful session that provided tools to not only manage daily stress more effectively but also to live in a more grounded and intentional way." Don't miss tomorrow's' session on 'judgement'!

Sometimes, words simply cannot capture the depth of certain experiences. Last evening, I had the privilege of attending Rising from the Ashes, a moving theatre production by the Natak Mandali Inc. and Harman Foundation Limited. It was a powerful portrayal of family and domestic violence and its ongoing impact, cultural nuances, trauma, and resilience in navigating complex cultural landscapes. The actors breathed life into their roles with such intensity, it felt as though they were reliving the very moments they portrayed. For the audience, it was an emotional journey; we felt every pulse, every tear, and every unspoken word in the room. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who brought this story to life. It was an evening that touched our souls and will linger in our hearts for a long time. Harman Foundation Limited Dr Michelle Byrne Euphony Films Australia @Natak Mandali Inc.
