Powerful lessons in the human skills of leadership, explored through African animal fables.

About us

Are you looking to develop true leaders who lead themselves well, build co-operative teams, more engaged, productive people, and a positive corporate culture? John Carroll's Leadership Safaris teach the human (or soft) skills that are so crucial to leaders today. Leadership Safaris are experiential, action-oriented, storytelling keynote presentations, workshops, and coaching themed around African animal fables. Your safari presentation is laced with side-trips into business and personal anecdotes, case studies, and action points that drive home the key messages. Each fable focuses on one of the "Big Five" territories of leadership, teaching: - The fundamental philosophy of The Leadership Eco-System; - The 5 Principles of Leading Yourself So You Can Lead Others; - The 5 Principles of Positive Culture and Engaging Leadership; - The 5 Principles of High-Functioning Teams; - The 5 Adaptation Habits for Leading Ongoing Change. Each of the Big Five territories can be a stand-alone experience or can be explored as part of a series. Each presentation, workshop, or coaching program, and the embedded critical messages, will be tweaked to suit your outcome needs.

Helping Leaders Build High-Functioning Teams | Leadership Safari Keynote Speaker | Author | Coach. Boost team engagement with my unique blend of stories and business insights. Build a thriving, human-centred workplace.

The Impact of Human-Centred Leadership on Organisational Performance As a former CEO and Managing Director, I've seen how human-centred leadership can transform an organisation. One pivotal moment came when I was leading my team in Zimbabwe through a challenging period. We were struggling against larger competitors, morale was low, and productivity had stagnated. During a break in Mana Pools, I watched a herd of elephants. The matriarch led the adults in helping a calf up a steep bank. It struck me—this is what leadership should be: supporting each other to succeed. Back at the office, I shared the elephant story and suggested we emulate their support system. I shifted my focus to being a passionate team supporter and used storytelling to inspire and engage. The impact was immediate: engagement soared, collaboration improved, and productivity increased. Over the next seven years, not one team member resigned. I developed this approach into "Self-Led Leadership," where leaders first learn to lead themselves before helping their teams become self-led. This method creates confident, engaged teams that support each other’s growth. Through my Leadership Safaris, I blend business acumen with storytelling to create unique learning experiences. If you're a leader looking to boost your team's engagement and productivity, let’s connect. Reach out to discover how we can transform your leadership and unlock your team's full potential.

#BuildSustainableNow Let's raise children who can name plants and animals, not celebrities and brands! Encouraging children to connect with nature by learning about plants and animals can have numerous benefits for their development and the environment. Teaching children to identify different species of plants and animals fosters a sense of curiosity, empathy, and environmental awareness. It can also help them develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world and instill a sense of responsibility towards conservation. Engaging children in activities such as nature walks, wildlife spotting, gardening, or visits to botanical gardens and zoos can nurture a love for biodiversity early on. Encouraging children to learn about local flora and fauna not only enriches their knowledge but also promotes a sense of stewardship towards the environment. By prioritizing nature education alongside other forms of learning, we can raise a generation of individuals who are not only well-informed about the world around them but also motivated to protect and preserve it for future generations.
