Meet the Leading Crane Services Team ⭐ Meet Josh - our South Australian Service Manager & Technician Interests – Four-wheel driving, camping, riding motorbikes, & going to the pub. Previous history and why you got into cranes – I finished a trade in electrical and started to work on overhead cranes; I enjoyed the mechanical aspect as well as the in-depth electrical side of cranes. I worked on overhead cranes doing maintenance and installations for the next 4 years before receiving an opportunity to work on personnel hoists and tower cranes. After 2 years I was approached by management to come work for Leading Crane Services and I haven’t looked back since! Favourite thing about Leading Crane Services - Our crew and the team environment around it. The job allows us to work a broad range of specialties from fitting, electrical & mechanical works while also expanding into lifting & rigging, height safety inspection and lifting equipment inspections.

Leading Crane Services have been working alongside a valued client undertaking repairs and maintenance works across multiple South Australian Jetty Cranes from Port Adelaide to the Eyre Peninsula & Kangaroo Island 🌍 The Jetty Cranes are regularly used by Fisheries for unloading of their catches from the vessels. Leading Cranes has carried out an upgrade to all 9 Jetty’s throughout the state, induing new hoists and replacement of other mechanical components weathered from the marine environment, providing the client with more efficient and reliable cranes for future use. A valued client approached us to find a resolution to a production issue on their glass panel fabrication line. Previously, a manual light crane system with a chain hoist and a glass lifter attachment was used to unload the machine and load stillages. As the client is a high production facility, this has resulted in fatigue of the operators through manually pushing and pulling glass panels through the slack in the load chain repeatedly for entire shifts. The client had a spare glass lifter that was purpose built for the application that can tilt and rotate glass panels as required by the operators to further eliminate manual operations. As this unit is purpose built to suit a different system, the client requested a quotation for the removal of the existing crane system and the installation of a new crane system. Leading Crane Service devised a much more cost-effective plan that would provide the client with exactly what they needed, while still retaining their original asset. Through our vast supply chain, we were able to obtain materials to complete – 💥 Extension to the existing crane structure 💥 Fabrication of a twin track crane bridge to suit the existing glass lifter 💥 Installation of electric VSD operated long travel drives and end of travel limit system 💥 Installation of a remote control system to wirelessly control the long travel drive function To prevent overloading of the structure with the now two cranes operating, an electronically governed parking bay system was incorporated into the design of the crane extension. As a result, if the new crane leaves the extended section of runway, the opposing crane will become unable to operate. The client can now utilise their desired glass lifter without the need for operators to manually manoeuvre the crane, while also retaining the original asset that can be used for infrequent heavier lifts.
