It was a big mission…. A MEDICAL WINGS journey like no other. For the last 14-months, Little Wings Ltd has been working directly with the community of Warren, Central Western NSW; part of a team determined to create sustainable paediatric clinics to address the growing waiting lists for local children with serious physical and psychological concerns. The last paediatrician visited the region in 2017, and with the closest local hospital at capacity, nearly 50 children have been waiting in desperate need of a diagnosis and treatment… left with no option other than to wait. This week saw the first monthly clinic for Warren, a program that is currently set to run for 12-months in hope of addressing the local needs. On board the Little Wings Ltd flight, Dr Mary, a specialist in her field and passionate about paediatric care and intervention… upon landing the trailblazers of community health, and the wider community, there to greet and celebrate this momentous moment for the community. This program has been funded by the support of the NSW Health Minister, Ryan Park, fuelling the aircraft and helping us bring essential healthcare services to the regions and ensure the voices of regional families are heard and actioned. It was a proud moment, a great privilege to be part of, to witness the gratitude of the community, and hopefully, see the waiting lists decline and children thrive. #littlewingsaustralia #yourjourneyourmission #warren #regionalnsw #regionalhealth #community #paediatrician #trailblazers #ryanpark #nswhealth #teameffort #medicalwings Roy Butler Chris Minns NSW Health

About us
Little Wings is a not for profit organisation that provides a professional, free and safe flight and ground transport service for children from rural and regional NSW to access specialised medical services and treatment in major centres. Our aim is to support families to reduce the financial burden, emotional strain, and travel fatigue associated with long distance travel. Little Wings’ objective is to provide support and care to seriously ill children & their families to lessen the impact of this traumatic event. We support these families by: • Reducing travel fatigue – lessening the travel fatigue experienced by repeatedly travelling by road, public transport or commercial flight; • Financial assistance – lessening the financial burden associated with long distance travel and time away from the parents’ employment; • Family time – returning children home in a timely and safe manner, even during short breaks in treatment, enabling the families to remain together as much as possible. This improves the child’s quality of life, recovery process and family cohesiveness; • Urgent assistance – providing urgent short notice transport services for family members to support their sick child; • Health of children a priority – increasing the effectiveness of the child’s treatment by not having them exposed to the risk of infection associated with travelling on public transport and commercial flights.

Introducing George, 9 years old and a local resident of Moree, NSW. Today, was a special day after a challenging year… the Little Wings Ltd team pulling our partners together to help George celebrate a momentous milestone. 12 months ago, George was diagnosed with leukaemia… he went into The Children’s Hospital at Westmead on Christmas Eve to commence his treatment and 11-long months of medical isolation proceeded. During that time he only had his dreams of returning home and viewing his beloved footy team, the Penrith Panthers, to keep him distracted… every game bringing some joy and helping keep him connected to his friends and family, all of whom seemed so very far away. But today, is a good day. George is well enough to finally return home for 3-days of respite… to see his family, his pets, to sleep in his own bed. And whilst these moments are precious in their own right, huge steps forward and indications that he is beating this awful disease, we wanted to help elevate the celebration. So as we pulled into hospital as per usual to pick George and his mum up, finally bound for Bankstown Airport, but as the Hyundai Help for Kids van door was pulled open, there was the one and only, Liam Henry! There to do the drive from hospital to hangar and help send this family off in style. Gifted a jersey and footy boots worn in the 2024 grand final… and the cherry on the sundae, a personal video call from Nathan Cleary… the word magic just simply does not do the moment justice. Today, will be a day remembered and celebrated by all present… Georges mighty smile testament to the joy felt in the hangar. A special thank you to the many that helped us make this journey, hospital to home, possible…. We can not create magic without and are so proud to walk with you on every mission. ✈️ 💙🫶🏻 Road and Rail Excavations Pty Ltd GIVIT.org.au Smithfield RSL Club #thankyou #littlewingsaustralia #regionalhealth#milestones #hometime #penrithpanthers#liamhenry #nathancleary#yourjourneyourmission #leukemia #westmead#moree #dreams

3 years ago, Mason was diagnosed with leukaemia… given 30 minutes to pack his bag after diagnosis, Little Wings Ltd has been flying him back and forth from Bourke to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead ever since. During those 3 long years of invasive treatment, heartbreaking moments of uncertainty and the isolation from peers and loved ones… Mason would spend his days dreaming. Helicopter 🚁 Race car 🏎️ At the top of his list. Just days before Christmas, Little Wings Ltd helped Mason ticket these items off his bucket list. A boy destined for speed and reaching new heights and our friends at Hyundai Help for Kids Road and Rail Excavations Pty Ltd and Bankstown Sports were there to help us pull out all the stops to make these dreams a reality. #yourjourneyourmission #littlewingsaustralia #mason #dreambig #leukemia #westmeadkids #bourke #aviation #hyundaihelpforkids #bankstownsports #neverstopbelieving #roadandrailexcavations @roy_butler_4_barwon

The might cherry in all her glory at the iconic Sydney Markets annual Cherry Ball. This year, those delicious cherries will help us support and nurture the families from across the regions of NSW who are caring for a seriously ill child. This week we saw these worlds collide, spending time on the orchards, re-invigorating a Cherry tradition for Kobi, and bring this family home with Little Wings. One little cherry… but she nourishes the nation. Introducing Beau, 9 years old and from Forbes in the NSW Central West. After a long stay in hospital, Beau and his mum can finally return home for some much needed relief between admissions. Beau was diagnosed with leukaemia and his treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead which required long stays as he underwent chemotherapy… on top of the gruelling demands of cancer treatment, being away from home for months on end is just so hard. But today is a happy day, well enough to return home. Beau is all smiles as he boards, the anticipated relief and joy of reconnecting with his dad is overwhelming. His mum, Erin, giving us this wonderful update… “We lived between Ronald McDonald House Charities and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for a year during intensive frontline treatment. We can now live at home during maintenance treatment and come down every 8 weeks, thank you Little Wings Ltd for helping my family, you don’t know how much it helps”. We at Little Wings Ltd know that kids recover quicker when resting at home with loved ones between treatments. The sense of belonging and connection is vital in building emotional and psychological resilience during treatment. So the delivery of this mission, reuniting this family after months apart, was a privilege, and to hear how Beau is progressing, absolutely makes our day! Michael McCormack
