  • Mayor Ned Mannoun thanks NSW Multiculturalism Minister Steve Kamper and Minister Anoulack Chanthivong for meeting with the leaders of the Australian Islamic House Masjid at Edmondson Park to discuss how the state government can assist following the recent threats. It was sad to hear how members of the local Islamic community have endured years of Islamophobic comment, culminating in the threat made over the last 24 hours. The State Government has promised more will be done to protect faith communities from hate speech, and the Islamic community was grateful that their concerns were heard. Mayor Mannoun also thanks Local MPs Charishma Kaliyanda, Nathan Hagarty and Tina Ayyad as well as Shadow Multiculturalism Minister Mark Coure for coming and showing support for our community.

  • This morning, Liverpool City Council proudly hosted the Southern Strength Agile Manufacturing Network (SSAM) breakfast Council’s Civic Chambers, bringing together industry leaders to discuss key developments shaping the region’s manufacturing future. The event featured an expert-led panel exploring industry updates, workforce capabilities, and growth opportunities in Liverpool’s thriving manufacturing sector. Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun opened the event, followed by valuable insights from Sam Matandos (Director, Moxon Industries), Raquel Bloom (Industry Capability Network NSW), Professor Dr. Dilupa Nakandala, and Associate Lecturer Dr. Pauline Ross from Western Sydney University’s School of Business. Manufacturing is a cornerstone of Liverpool’s economy, directly employing approximately 8,000 people and generating nearly $1 billion annually within the Liverpool LGA. With major infrastructure projects such as the Western Sydney International Airport, Moorebank Intermodal Precinct, and continued industry expansions underway, the demand for manufacturing capability and employment opportunities will only continue to grow. SSAM provides businesses an essential platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and industry advocacy, ensuring that local manufacturers remain competitive in an evolving market. Businesses across Western Sydney have consistently demonstrated resilience and adaptability, embracing technological advancements and innovation. The need for a highly skilled workforce will remain critical to ensuring long-term growth, productivity, and competitiveness within our region. Thanks to all speakers, attendees, and the Southern Strength Agile Manufacturing Network for their leadership and ongoing commitment to advancing our local manufacturing industry. Together, we’re building a stronger, more innovative, and prosperous future for Liverpool. • Liverpool City Council is clamping down on abandoned trolleys, which are cluttering the city’s streets, parks and rivers. Mayor Ned Mannoun is calling for stronger state laws, as current legislation makes it difficult for Councils to immediately impound all abandoned trolleys. Mayor Mannoun says trolleys are being randomly dumped across Sydney, and the owners are not doing enough to retrieve them. Liverpool Council is now impounding as many dumped trolleys as possible and will be issuing fines to their owners who fail to act. At this stage, Council is not imposing fines, this will happen if the problem isn’t resolved. All impounded trolleys that are not reclaimed will be fed through the Council’s scrap metal shredder.
