About us
Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) is the leader in local government advocacy, collaborative learning and professional development. We represent the needs of our members to other spheres of government and to various stakeholders in order to create the most effective working environment for officers and to allow them to thrive. LGMA seeks to ensure its members are industry leaders, always at the forefront of good practice, change, innovation and the continuous elevation of local government in the state. We have developed a collaborative membership, constantly growing in vitality and diversity. I love local government because it is all about working for our local communities. It has been awesome to help the NPA Stars from the Nothern Peninsula Area Regional Council prepare for the LGMA Management Challenge held at Weipa recently. They have been such a great team to work with, both in person and online as we prepared over the last few weeks. Glendon, Peri, Devona, Damien and Shirley excelled with their team work, communication and unity. The future of local government is in good hands with (NPA) stars like this. They developed their own set of team values, one of which was humility. We can all learn from this! Thanks to LGMA for the opportunity to build local capacity and leadership in remote Councils which will ultimately benefit the local communities.
