🚀 Jobs and Skills Yorke & Mid North Network Meeting 🚀 Last Thursday in Port Pirie, we gathered for our quarterly Jobs and Skills Yorke & Mid North Network meeting, bringing together local organisations, industry leaders, and workforce experts to discuss employment, skills, and training opportunities in our region. 🔹 Guest Speaker Spotlight 🔹 We welcomed Chris Stringer & Matt Adams from Nyrstar Port Pirie, who shared details about the 2025 Operator Traineeship Program—an exciting 12-month program to address and overcome challenges with recruiting and retaining operators and equipping participants with essential industry skills, a nationally recognised qualification and additional work/life support. With the support of the Government of South Australia, this program aims to develop essential soft skills, job skills, employability skills, and fundamental literacy, numeracy, and reading skills for success in the service industry, alongside seven accredited units of competency, which are eligible for credit towards a Certificate III in Retail (SIR30126): ✅ SIRXCEG002 - Assist with customer difficulties ✅ SIRXCEG003 - Build customer relationships and loyalty ✅ SIRXCOM002 - Work effectively in a team ✅ SIRXRSK001 - Identify and respond to security risks ✅ CHCDIV001 - Work with diverse people ✅ SIRXWHS002 - Contribute to workplace health and safety ✅ SIRXCEG008 - Manage disrespectful, aggressive, or abusive customers Here’s what participants will benefit from: • Foundation Skills: We’ll help improve their numeracy, literacy, and basic computer skills. • Job Readiness: Practical advice on writing CVs, job applications, and interview tips to help them get ready for work. • Soft Skills: Building resilience, communication skills, customer service skills and teamwork, which are valuable in both work and life. • Accredited Training: All 7 units achieved are eligible for credit towards full qualifications Certificate III Retail SIR30126.
