Super unpopular opinion but.. don’t stop posting on your business socials over Christmas and New Year! The common advice is that it’s okay not to post over this period, and instead take time to be in the moment, which it totally is - BUT schedule business posts to go live during this time. Every single one of my clients has posts scheduled to continue going up during Christmas and New Year, all of them. We don’t just drop the ball because the jolly red man is making an appearance. Think about it like this - what are you doing on Christmas Day after all the food has been demolished? Probably laying under the air con scrolling through your social media. What are you doing during that weird time between Christmas and New Year? No one actually knows, but you’re more than likely going to have your phone in your hand and a social media app open. You don’t have to be actively thinking up and creating content in real time. Spend some time BEFORE you put your out of office on scheduling in content to keep pushing out to your audience.

"Facebook is dead" - um.... how did we get these three sets of results during November then? It was hard to pick just three sets of results to share with you this month because there was so much positivity in my monthly notes! I chose three completely different businesses - a specialty malt business, a non-profit and an ag consulting business, to show you that these kind of results can happen for ANY business or organisation, you just have to know how!

Last year I got *really* clear on who my ideal client was, and it involved me having to get comfortable with saying "no" to some businesses because they didn't align with that ideal client I had created. When I ask a potential client "why is your business on social media?" it is the answer they give that usually tells me straight away if we're going to be a good fit or not. There is some goals I CAN help with, and some that I simply can't. Tell me: why is your business on social media?

As of today I have officially been running my own business for five whole years! 🎉 At the start of my business journey I was told that 50% of small businesses fail in their first five years, and I was completely adamant that I would not be counted in that statistic. It was something that stuck in the back of my mind the whole time. And I didn’t 🙌 But really, this first five years is just the beginning, there is so much more to come 🎉

..and that is a good thing! Local Social Co. is for the rural and regional businesses throughout Australia who want to talk to their community. They don't want to reach people 1000kms away, or people in another country. They want to connect with and create relationships with the people who are within driving distance. They want to connect locally. Why is this a good thing? Because all my energy is focused on local marketing, I am not bothering to learn the latest techniques to reach people overseas, I am continually learning anything and everything that will help my clients with their local marketing. My focus is on helping local rural and regional businesses to maximise their presence on social media.
