  • Excited to introduce our final panelist speaker, Verity Simmons! From dominating the netball court with West Coast Fever to representing Aus with the Australian Diamonds, she’s now taking on a new challenge in AFLW with West Coast Eagles!    A type one diabetic, Verity is also a passionate advocate for health and fitness. Outside of sports, she’s making a difference as a personal trainer/coach and working with Indigenous youth in and out of detention centers.    Having played professionally across two sports, we look forward to hearing Verity’s unique perspective on AFL’s investment in the AFLW and the player experience in the AFLW compared to netball. We can’t wait!

  • Next up on our panel is Paul Marsh, CEO of the AFL Players’ Association who has been a key advocate for the rights and wellbeing of AFL and AFLW players.    Under Paul’s leadership, the AFL PA have been instrumental in achieving significant improvements of pay and conditions for AFLW players, including a historic 94% pay increase in 2022 and the first joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for both AFL and AFLW in 2023, with the players now collectively sharing in 31.7% of the game’s gross revenues.    Paul has had a long and accomplished career in Australian sports, also serving as the CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association for nine years, during which time the association started representing female cricketers and secured the first workplace deal for these players too.   We’re thrilled to have Paul join us for IWD and look forward to hearing about how he and the AFL PA continue to support the AFLW players in their vision to reach professionalism by 2026.

  • 2023 will be remembered as the year the Matilda’s changed the face of women’s sport in Australia, with broadcasters, brands and audiences throwing their support behind our female athletes like never before. Undeniably though, there’s still a long way to go.   As the nation gears for the start of the 2024 AFL Premiership season, we’re taking the opportunity on International Women’s Day to explore this year’s theme, “Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress,” through the lens of the “largest employer of female athletes in Australia”, and our national sporting code– the AFL.   Our very impressive panel of speakers (soon to be announced!) will share insights on the current state of the women’s competition.  We will celebrate the AFL’s investment in AFLW to date, and the significant improvements in pay and conditions for our female athletes over the short history of the competition. But we won’t be glossing over the ongoing systemic inequalities that keep the AFLW competition from being given a fair go.     Is the AFL doing enough? Should we all expect more from our nation’s most popular sport? We will let you be the judge!

  • If you were quick enough to grab a ticket to our International Women’s Day celebration, you’ll be excited to hear that @papasaltgin will be treating us all to a gin tasting experience. Papa Salt is a new Australian-made gin created by a group of friends, Margot Robbie, Charlie Maas, Regan Riskas, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara.  An easy-drinking gin that celebrates the subtle taste of native Australian botanicals, Papa Gin is best served in the sun with friends. It’s the fusion of friendship and entrepreneurship that make Papa Salt the perfect fit for LLC, and we can’t wait to reconnect with you all over gin & soda on March 8. Now who’s coming? • 🌟 Testimonial Time: Empowered and Inspired! 🌟 Isabel Critch, The Holistic Midwife, says it best! 🎤🙌 "Such an awesome event! As someone who was really nervous about rocking up alone and not really knowing anyone or what to expect, I felt everyone was so welcoming, eager to meet new people, and most people were also in the same boat! It’s hard to explain the feeling you get from these lunches, but I always leave feeling empowered and buzzing with ideas and inspiration from both the speakers and getting to talk to and connect with so many awesome people! This is not an awkward small talk event; I find you get to have real conversations as well as amazing food, wine, and cocktails! Ps this is definitely an Uber-only event as the party always kicks on afterwards! 😜" #LongLunchClub #Perth #PerthEvents #PerthNetworking #PerthNetworkingEvents #NetworkingPerth #NetworkingEventPerth
