Exciting news from the CEC. Today, we’re thrilled to be launching our 'Clean energy works for Australia' campaign ☀️ Our goal: To make sure you have the facts by sharing important details about clean energy including how it benefits Australians. Why? Two-thirds of Australians support more clean energy projects. But we get it, there’s a lot of confusion out there. That’s why we'll be sharing data, explainers, and busting all sorts of myths. By the way, we’ve also created energyfactcheck.com.au – your go-to resource for answers to the most common questions about the energy transition. “It’s time we clear the air as the national energy conversation heats up – not just in our national interest, but in the best interests of Aussie households, businesses, farmers and manufacturers,” says our Chief Executive, Kane Thornton. Stay tuned over the coming weeks and months and discover why clean energy works for Australia 🇦🇺 #cleanenergyworksforAus #CleanEnergy #MythBusting #EnergyTransition #Australia

The data centre industry is evolving rapidly to meet skyrocketing demand for data processing, AI, and cloud computing. A shift toward power-first strategies is now critical to avoid bottlenecks and secure reliable, sustainable energy for growth. Last year Lumea’s Executive General Manager Craig Stallan, and Lumea’s Director of Energy Development Sabooh W. visited the US to attend the TMT M&A Forum USA 2024 and RBC Global Communications Infrastructure Conference to meet with leading industry figures and understand how they were addressing some of the challenges with data centre projects in the region. As a more established market further along the data centre journey, Sabooh shared some of the insights and lessons in her latest article. Collaboration with utilities and innovative approaches to power are shaping the future of data centres globally – as Australia’s industry continues to grow, we must learn from more established markets or else risk getting left behind. Stay tuned for more pieces unpacking the challenges and opportunities facing the Australian data centre market and how strategic partnerships can be used to address the growing demand.

Two giant transformers have arrived in Victoria and will be used in the connection of our first project – one of the world’s biggest batteries – to the grid. The 335-tonne transformers travelled from the Port of Melbourne to the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub in Plumpton with an oversized load escort in the early morning to avoid traffic disruption, before a specialised crew installed the transformers onto their foundations in a precise process known as ‘jack and skate’. Co-owned with Equis Australia the Hub is on track to be operational later this year and will deliver 1.6 gigawatt hours of energy storage, enough to power 200,000 homes during peak periods.
