Changing Lives, Building Communities
About us
Our Mission - God’s love in action: care, compassion and social justice for all. Our Vision - Working together to change lives and build caring, resilient communities. At Lutheran Care (LC) we support and empower some of the most vulnerable people within our communities through a range of programs. Our current programs for families and individuals in South Australia and the Northern Territory include: - Emergency relief (food pantry, clothing, blankets & referrals) - Financial counselling - Personal and relationships counselling - Domestic Violence support - Foster Care - Homelessness services; and - The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. What we believe in - Our Values SOCIAL JUSTICE: We believe that everybody has the right to access the opportunities, support and services they need to lead a safe and fulfilling life. We are actively dedicated to ensuring that our staff, volunteers and clients feel heard, respected and well represented. We champion equity and advocacy, and provide a voice for the voiceless. COMPASSION We show compassion and empathy to our clients and each other. We don’t judge people on their past decisions and always work to understand their situation – helping empower them to lead their best life. We are loving, supporting and respectful, always generous with our time, knowledge and efforts. INCLUSION We are a warm, open organisation that welcomes and embraces people of all cultures, sexual orientations, gender identities, belief systems and circumstances. We value these differences and believe we are united by a shared desire to lead positive lives and be a part of a strong, connected, supportive community where no one is left behind. COMMITMENT We are loud and proud when it comes to driving innovation for our sector. Ready to challenge the conventional wisdom, unafraid to disrupt and eager to change things up, we are constantly exploring new, better ways to serve the changing needs of our clients and their families.

Last week Lutheran Care held its annual All Staff Day, giving our valued workforce the opportunity to join together at the Adelaide Zoo to strengthen our connection to each other and take some time out from our busy working schedules 🐼🐨😊 It was a fantastic day full of interesting speakers and fun activities, including an Amazing Race adventure around the Zoo in the afternoon! A highlight of the morning was keynote speaker Tim Jarvis AM, who recounted both Shackleton’s Antarctic expedition and his own remarkable recreation of that journey, as well as hearing from our Chief Executive Officer Rohan Feegrade. Once again staff were invited to get creative and dress up in teams on the day. This year's theme was 'Adventures at the Zoo' and the commitment to reflecting this theme was impressive!

Lutheran Care was honoured to be a guest at Sonder's 2024 Gala Dinner & Annual General Meeting on Saturday night, which was a wonderful evening full of celebration, fantastic food and live music. Held at Adelaide Oval, the event brought together valued partners and stakeholders who heard about Sonder's achievements from the past year. Lutheran Care has worked closely with Sonder across several programs in recent years, including the Toward Home Alliance. Well done to the team on organising a fantastic event 👏

A number of staff from our Family, Relationships and Community Services attended a valuable day of professional development on Wednesday that saw the team delve deep into the future of community development at Community Centre SA's Adaptive Futures Conference. The event provides teams with an opportunity to explore and challenge thinking around how we work and how a community development framework can be incorporated into the work we do. Staff were still discussing the conference and some of the key notes the following day – a great sign that the event had a positive impact on them 😊

Lutheran Care’s vision of a building a more connected and healthy community, where no-one is left behind, has taken a significant step forward with the acquisition of Better Self Psychology, one of South Australia’s largest psychology practices. “Better Self Psychology is a highly reputable and well-established practice. The addition brings significant benefits to our clients and communities, enabling a seamless and integrated care experience," says Lutheran Care Chief Executive Officer, Rohan Feegrade. “In supporting access to better mental health and wellbeing strategies, we want to impact life paths positively by supporting mental health early, potentially reducing the need for crisis services down the line."
