Engineering in the moonlight: exciting project milestone! The M7 Motorway bridge over Cowpasture Road has been undergoing a transformation. While most of Western Sydney slept, the first steel box girders were installed as part of the widening of the bridge. Brad Rutkowski, Senior Project Manager and his team, used detailed geometric modelling to ensure that the new bridge structures tied in seamlessly with the existing box girders, whilst navigating a restricted space to manoeuvre the crane in. With 8 of the 10 girders now installed, the team set their steely gaze on the construction of concrete diaphragms that will lock the girders into place and support the self-weight of the bridge, as its progressively assembled. We're excited to be part of the Australian Constructors Association (ACA)'s It's Possible campaign, encouraging women to make the move into construction. Our very own civil construction apprentice, Sonali Seneviratne, made the switch from a retail career, showing women that it's possible to make the transition, no matter your experience or background. Learn more about how you can make the change to a rewarding career in construction here: https://brnw.ch/21wQTUj
👷🏽♀️ It's Possible! You too can make the flip to Construction. 👷🏽♀️ ICYMI: One of our own civil construction apprentices on the M7-M12 Integration Project - Sonali Seneviratna - has spoken about the rewarding career change she made from the retail industry. John Holland is partnering with the Australian Constructors Association (ACA) in a new campaign aimed at promoting the construction industry to women looking for a new career. Titled 'It's Possible', the campaign is gaining momentum with site tours allowing a sneak peek at what a day in the life of a female construction worker could look like. Site tours on two of our major NSW project sites at Sydney Children's Hospital and the M1 Motorway Extension near Newcastle will showcase some of the pathways available to women from all sectors and levels of experience into a new role within construction. We're changing the game for women in construction! The M7-M12 Integration project is excited to submit our Late-Start program, which makes the construction industry more accessible for women, carers and the broader workforce, into the upcoming Infrastructure Partnerships Australia National Infrastructure Awards!
Building the future of construction: celebrating our M7-M12 Integration Project's Late Start Program! In an industry where women represent 2-percent of trade roles and where 25-percent of workers say work-life balance is a major issue, John Holland's Late Start Program is a gamechanger. The industry-first program was first rolled out on the $1.5billion project in western Sydney, enhancing diversity and gender equality by offering an 8.45am pre-start - allowing mothers, carers and the broader workforce to pursue a sustainable career in construction. Attracting more than 400 applicants from women based in western Sydney, the Late Start Program is just one initiative rolled out on the project to enhance the team's wellbeing and diversity - the others include: 👷🏽♀️ a dedicated Wellbeing committee 👷🏼♂️ on-site health and wellbeing facilities 👷🏽♀️ daily mental health 'check ins' Now that's innovation in construction! #ItsAJohnHollandJob #JohnHollandTransformingLives #InnovationAtJohnHolland

👷♂️ Faces of the M7-M12 Integration project! 👷♀️ Here at the M7-M12 Integration Project, we're all about celebrating the wonderful people who are helping to create life-changing infrastructure in Western Sydney. Our new Faces of the M7-M12 series does exactly that, and today we're excited to be profiling one of our brilliant Engineers, Nicholas Papadakis! Nick started with us in the Design team, but soon realised his real passion was for construction. Here, he talks to us about what he loves most about our project, and what he hopes to achieve in 2025. 🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 We recently had the pleasure of introducing Professor Elanor Huntington to our incremental launch nose, named in her honour. Professor Huntington’s contributions to aerospace engineering and leadership in engineering education have been an inspiration to our project team. 👷♀️ 👷 Our Elanor (the nose) is currently guiding the westbound bridge of the new M12 Motorway, over live traffic on the M7 motorway below – an extraordinary engineering feat! Given how hard she's working and the impact she's making, it's only fitting that the name Elanor was chosen during a project-wide naming competition. She is truly a worthy namesake for the launch nose leading the longest curved ILB road bridge in Australia 🌉. We can’t wait to welcome Professor Elanor Huntington back once our bridges are complete! Investing in the next generation of female constructors! 👷♀️ 👷♀️ John Holland’s M7-M12 Integration Project team is helping our next generation of female constructors get their hands busy and their hard hats ready this week, with support from the NSW Women in Construction Industry Innovation Program, which aims to inspire young girls and boys to pursue careers in #STEM while breaking down gender stereotypes. 💥 Free school holiday workshops at Stockland Wetherill Park Shopping Centre in western Sydney, along with primary school engagements are giving these children a taste of what it’s like to be a builder for a day! ⚒️ 🧰 🪛 They’re also learning from real-life construction workers and engineers about the contributions of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers. More than 600 children have joined in the fun already, which we think is a great way to celebrate International Education Day. 📒 💻 Here’s to seeing some of these faces on construction sites in the near future! #ItsAJohnHollandJob #JohnHolland #TransformingLives #FemaleConstructorsOfTheFuture #M7M12IntegrationProject #womeninconstruction John Holland Transurban Westlink M7 NSW Women in Construction Steve Kiddle, Stefanie Nutt

The M7-M12 Integration Project started 2025 the best way we know how – safely! 🙌 🙌 After a well-earned break, the project kicked off the year with a Safe Restart Day, ensuring everyone was focused and refreshed before heading back on-site. There were demonstrations involving everything from electrical awareness and commissioning to temporary works hazard identification and noise and water testing. We even highlighted the importance of exclusion zones by showing just how powerful some of our machinery can be (while sacrificing a few watermelons!). 🍉 🍉 It was a great way to start an exciting year for the project and emphasised our unwavering commitment to safety. Thank you to all who contributed. 👏 John Holland Transurban Westlink M7 Steve Kiddle, Steven Kotevich, Andie Pitsiatari, Colin Hansen, Stefanie Nutt Tony Waters, Tim Page Alex Major #Wellbeing #growthproject #safety #M7M12Integartionproject
