Prior to the first scheduled meeting for our new Councillor group at Gisborne on Wednesday evening, we paid respects to the Traditional Owners of the land - the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples - and welcomed Wurundjeri man Daniel Ross, who performed a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony for our Councillors and Executive team to participate in. Macedon Ranges Shire Council is uniquely placed in being situated across Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. We fully embrace our role and responsibility as a key organisation to work collaboratively with these three Traditional Owner groups, to acknowledge our First Nations history and help shape our shared future. Your values, our vision 🌏 All councils are legislatively required to complete deliberative engagement to review key documents - such as the Community Vision - by 31 October in the year following a general election. This consultation aims to gauge community priorities across a broad range of cohorts that will help inform these documents, including through engagement with a representative community assembly in the new year 👂 Feedback closes on 20 December.

Take the opportunity to shape our shire's future by leading the development and maintenance of diverse community assets and infrastructure. Provide strategic direction for transport, water-sensitive design, and drainage projects, while guiding teams in civil engineering and asset management to inform our Long-Term Financial Plan. As part of our Senior Leadership Team, you’ll bring strong leadership, engineering expertise, and a commitment to collaboration and community engagement. Your ability to mentor and develop teams, alongside a focus on stakeholder collaboration, will drive impactful outcomes. Professional Engineer registration is required for this role. This week, our new Council will hold its first Scheduled Council Meeting following the October elections. The meeting will be held on Wednesday evening at 7pm. Agenda items include: Contracts to be awarded; Quarterly Financial Report️; Councillor representation on Council's Audit and Risk Committee, and the renewal of several Council memberships; and the proposed rescheduling of the December 2024 Planning Delegated Committee Meeting date.
