Sunshine Coast Council is working with Lucid Economics to further understand the key capabilities required within a proposed Sunshine Coast Innovation Hub in the Maroochydore City Centre. The Hub was a key project identified as an advocacy priority for the region, stemming from the Sunshine Coast Innovation Mapping Project and the Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Strategy (2023 refresh). Have your say and assist Council by completing their short demand survey which will gather more detail about the service requirements that will inform the operation of the hub. Our region is undergoing rapid growth which necessitates proactive efforts to foster a community where everyone feels safe and welcomed. Shine A Light On Racism is an initiative created collaboratively by Sunshine Coast Council, community groups and local business leaders including our executive member Peppi Bueti as well as our sponsor Carlos Vaquero. The campaign aims to draw attention to acts of racism present in our everyday lives and to encourage better, more welcoming and inclusive behaviour by the people of the Sunshine Coast. By pledging to support diversity, engaging in educational training, and celebrating cultural inclusivity, we can collectively take significant steps towards eradicating racism and building a stronger, more unified community. To watch the video visit, https://lnkd.in/gzTzzi9z. We are encouraging all of our members to learn more about how you can support this initiative at https://lnkd.in/gT-q2ueX

It is with sadness that we hear of the passing of a great Sunshine Coaster, Doug Broad. Doug has been a great friend of Maroochydore Chambers for decades. In his time at Telstra he was a strong advocate of supporting the business community and in particular Chamber of Commerce. Always welcoming and ready to brighten your day with a smile, Doug will surely be missed by us all. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who did not like Doug. We will forever hold fond memories of a great man. Doug lived for his family and our thoughts go to them. Doug was the ultimate connector of friends, colleagues and community. Rest in peace our friend.
