A membership based and not-for-profit industry association, Materials Australia's vision is to be the peak representative body, and trusted voice, of the materials science and engineering profession. We are dedicated to providing our members with a competitive advantage through access to industry, research, education, government, and the wider community.
In 1946 a merging of a number of related societies formed the foundation of today’s Materials Australia. Since then, changes in technology and society have created new materials and applications. The diversity in Materials has broadened the scope of interest within the community. Originally focused on servicing the needs of engineers and metallurgists, Materials Australia membership has emerged as a representation of the new world of materials. Our members have a wide and varied experience from working with light alloys, new metals to ceramics and composites.
