Katie has been with the McGrath Foundation since 2021 and a registered nurse for over 30 years. “The most important thing I do is empower people with the information they need to help manage their disease. I approach each of my patient interactions with kindness and strive to provide clear and concise information.” There are currently 261 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses across Australia, who provide expert clinical, psychosocial and emotional support to people with any type of cancer throughout their treatment. Today is World Cancer Day, and this year's theme, United by Unique, reminds us that every cancer experience is deeply individual. With around 1 in 2 people in Australia diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it will take all of us, together, to ensure that no one faces cancer without the care and support of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse. The future of cancer care in Australia isn’t just bright, it’s more accessible and more wide-reaching than ever. McGrath Cancer Care Nurses provide clinical, emotional, and psychosocial support to people with any type of cancer, for free.
