Check out our Work-Integrated Training in Action! Wicole, one of our trainees expressed to us her desire to learn the art of barista-style coffee making. Thanks to the incredible support of Erika, our superstar Barista, Wicole has been honing her skills and gaining hands-on experience at work. A goal of hers she's always wanted to achieve. To take her and the rest of the team's training to the next level, we partnered with our coffee bean supplier, Piccolo Coffee Roasters, who delivered specialized training to our staff, covering all technical elements of coffee making, the science behind the craft, machine maintenance and how to brew the perfect coffee. Shout out to the team at Piccolo for providing the support to train, educate and empower our team as they progress in their employment journey. If you've followed us for a while, you'll know this is just one aspect of what we do - but its a good way to highlight our uniqueness to the social enterprise sector. It's these practical skills development, creating a nurturing environment where women grow in confidence through achievements and independence and providing individualised support that makes it so powerful in empowering an individual.

What a day! Huge thanks to everyone who joined us last Thursday for our event Online Growth & AI for 2025 🚀 Co-hosted with nbn® Australia and held at their Docklands office, this event was packed with practical tips and tools to help small businesses and startups thrive online. It was an incredible day of learning, with over 100 small businesses and startups in attendance! We had a blast exploring AI with Accenture digital growth strategies with Shopify agency Punch Buggy, and Australia’s data trends with nbn® Australia Big thanks to our co-hosts, nbn® Australia and to everyone who helped make this happen. What an incredible roller coaster we have been through at Meals with Impact. You wouldn’t believe what we have achieved over the past two weeks. ❌ our front door was smashed in. ✅ we were finalists in the City of Melbourne community awards. ❌ our dishwasher and fridge broke down. ✅ we produced and donated over 800 culturally diverse meals to food relief programs around Melbourne. ❌ we said a final good bye to the beloved Mamma Maggie food van. ✅ supplied our local Big Issue vendor ‘Louis’ with nutritious meals (if you work in the Docklands, please buy from Louis at the Collins st exit of Southern Cross station). ✅ catered to 15 separate corporate clients and hosted 35 participants through our corporate volunteering program. ✅ provided nearly 100 hours of work-integrated training to women from refugee and migrant backgrounds. ✅ served over 500 happy customers in our social enterprise cafe. It just goes to show how much interest there is in #socialenterprise and how when the chips are down our community is willing to stand up and support. To all of you that reached out offering support and best wishes during the difficult times, we say a huge “thank you”. Although the road to repair is still long and uncertain we could not have achieved all of these positive outcomes in such a small period of time without the tremendous support. On behalf of Nikki Blanch and I, I want to thank our wonderfully dedicated team. We all come from different corners of the globe, speak various languages and exchange a range of cultural stories but we all walk in the same direction towards a shared purpose with lots and lots of laughter.
