We believe supportive housing is a key strategy to end cycles of homelessness. Supportive housing provides affordable housing linked with health and community services to help tenants stay housed and manage the issues that may have contributed to long-term homelessness. We focus on tenants at risk of homelessness, women and children establishing new housing and community connections. Yesterday's 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 brought together diverse systems and sectors, with thought leaders representing government, NFP, community, universities and funders. Speakers shared insights from their international and local experience, underscoring the need for responses that are: 🔸universal and targeted (proportional universalism) 🔸co-designed with place-based and First Nations leaders 🔸aligned with developmental and intergenerational principles and approaches 🔸well planned with integration of governance, programs and policies. Happy Primary Health Nurses Day! Meet Gill, one of our incredible nurses at Micah Projects, who has been making a difference for the past 7 years! 💙 Starting as an After hours Nurse in the Street to Home team, Gill now works as a Registered Nurse in the Homefront PAH program, partnering with Princess Alexandra Hospital to provide essential healthcare to vulnerable people. She has also supported pop-up vaccination clinics, ensuring free flu shots reach people experiencing homelessness. 💬 “Love being a nurse at Micah as it's like one big family and everyone supports each other. Working with participants who have complex and chronic health conditions and the reward at seeing them housed from homelessness and linked back into healthcare and support services. Also, the rapport you build with the participants along the way as they let their guards down and trust in your care.” Today, we celebrate Gill and our incredible Inclusive Health Partnerships Nurses and the life changing care they provide in outreach, clinics, and homes. Their dedication ensures our communities stay safe and healthy. Thank you for making a difference every day!

In December, Vulcana Circus returned to QPAC's Cremorne Theatre with its moving and transformative contemporary circus work, Circus in a Tea Cup.    In partnership with QPAC and Micah Projects, Vulcana's ensemble members collaborated with survivors of domestic violence to move through true stories of celebration, recovery, and triumph.   Since 2021, more than 1,000 audience members have experienced this remarkable true story focused on rebuilding with the courage to take up space and be heard.   Congratulations to the performers and creatives who have bravely shared their experiences through physical performance.

"It's a home. But it's bigger than that. It's a home that comes with a community, with a tribe." Common Ground Queensland, in partnership with Micah Projects, is leading the way with an evidence-based model, that combines housing with wrap-around support services. It provides tenants like Karen with security, stability and a renewed sense of hope. As the now-Queensland Premier, David Crisafulli MP, told QCOSS CEO, Aimee McVeigh, at our In Conversation last September, “We are not delivering enough supportive housing… I do believe in the need for more. I think our focus should be on meeting need, and that will grow.” We agree with the Premier that more supportive housing is needed. We will continue to advocate to the Queensland Government on behalf of the community sector to end homelessness and ensure every Queenslander has a safe place to call home.
