When Chief Scientist Brian Gonzales was completing his PhD, he envisioned a breakthrough—a carbon nanotube X-ray tube that would redefine medical imaging by making CT scans more accessible, affordable, and mobile. Now, that dream is becoming a reality. Micro-X has been awarded a contract to develop a full-body CT scanner—one that is compact enough to fit inside a vehicle while delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging wherever it's needed. This is more than just innovation; it's a game-changer for healthcare. By removing the physical and financial barriers to CT imaging, we are making life-saving diagnostics available to more people, in more places, than ever before. Micro-X is going beyond boundaries to deliver the future of CT imaging. #MedicalImaging #CTScanner #Innovation #NEXTechnology #MicroX #FutureOfHealthcare

US government agency ARPA-H has announced teams selected to develop a platform to deliver advanced hospital-level care to rural areas. We are one of 12 teams selected to participate from a global invitation for proposals. We’re developing a world-first full-body CT device that is significantly smaller and lighter, breaking down financial and logistical barriers to accessing life-saving imaging. Working with Monash Art, Design and Architecture and Johns Hopkins Hospital, Micro-X aims to deliver a full body CT weighing just 225 kilograms, compared to equivalent conventional CTs that weigh more than 2000 kilograms. With an up to US$16.4M contract from ARPA-H, we’re driving a new era of mobile, accessible CT technology—ensuring that rural and remote communities can receive the healthcare they deserve, no matter where they live.Innovation that moves beyond boundaries, healthcare that reaches everyone. "When I first joined Micro-X, an electronics intern mentioned that she had never seen a female senior electronics engineer before. I told her, 'Girls are not just for cooking, looking beautiful, or doing soft tasks. We can also design PCBs and even blow things up!' Micro-X provides opportunities for women in engineering, and I’m proud to be the first female senior electronics engineer here." Did you know Australia's stroke treatment performance languishes behind our international peers? The 30/60/90 National Stroke Targets Taskforce says a national commitment to addressing treatment gaps is required, at all levels of health systems and government, supported by ambulance and retrieval services, emergency and radiology departments, and the medical and nursing staff administering acute stroke treatments. At Micro-X, we are driven by a commitment to push beyond boundaries to reduce time to treatment by bringing new stroke diagnosis technology to the patient. Our technology is designed to speed up the pathway to diagnosis, ultimately saving lives and reducing life altering disability.
