📢 New Student Visa Processing Changes Under Ministerial Direction No. 111 🎓✈️ The Department of Home Affairs has introduced Ministerial Direction No. 111 (MD111), effective 19 December 2024, replacing MD107. This change aims to promote fairness, sustainability, and integrity within Australia’s international education sector while ensuring timely and equitable visa processing. Here’s what you need to know: 🌟 Key Highlights: MD107 Revoked: The previous direction was found to unevenly impact education providers, prompting its replacement. MD111 Overview: Applies to offshore Subclass 500 (Student) visa applications, including pending and new applications. It sets a clear priority processing framework: Priority 1 – High: For providers in higher education and vocational education sectors below their prioritisation threshold (as per PRISMS). Priority 2 – Standard: Applies to providers exceeding their threshold and other student visa applicants. 🏫 Who Benefits from Priority 1 – High Processing? -Providers under 80% of their 2025 indicative allocation for new overseas student commencements. -Key groups like higher degree by research students, scholarship recipients, TAFE students, and students from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. 🔍 Why It Matters: This new approach promotes fairness across provider types and locations, including regional and small providers, supporting Australia’s wider international education objectives. 🗓️ Next Steps for Applicants: Lodge complete visa applications early to avoid delays. Refer to indicative allocations for new student commencements on the Department of Education and Employment websites for more details. 🤝 Engagement with the Sector: The government will continue consultations through webinars, discussions with peak bodies, and digital outreach to ensure seamless adaptation to this updated framework. Australia remains committed to maintaining its position as a global leader in quality international education. 🌏✨ #StudentVisas #MigrationReforms #InternationalEducation #AustraliaMigration #VisaUpdates #EducationMatters #MigrationLaw #HigherEducationAustralia #GlobalStudents #VocationalTraining #StudyInAustralia 🎓✈️
