About us

Welcome to Mind Over Matter, where we dive deep into the intriguing and expansive world of 'holistic mental health'. From promoting the destigmatisation of mental disorders, and shining a light on men's mental health issues, to highlighting the nuances of psycho-linguistics and mindfulness, while making positive psychology, and critical thinking skills accessible to all, we are promoting a wider, varied and more vivid view of what it means to have "healthy minds". Through engaging content, delivered in text and video form, we aim to inform, unite, and empower individuals. We want to shatter misconceptions, erase stigmas, and create a space where no one feels alone or uninformed. Are you ready to join us on this transformative journey? Together, let's gain clarity, foster empathy, and pave the way for a more mindful and compassionate society. - - - - - Disclaimers: (A) None of our newsletters are sponsored. • You should read this review if... a). You do not have a mindfulness routine and are curious about starting one. b). You already have a mindfulness routine but are curious about different resources available for free. or c). You would like to read something that is well researched, honest, fun, and human-made. Either way, this review of 'The Mindfulness App', by our resident 'app aficionado' Kris Baumgren is well worth the time investment. The opinions he shares in this review/newsletter were sourced from using the app long-term, allowing him to uncover, consider and compare aspects of the app as his experience changed over time and in comparison to other mindfulness apps as well. As usual any feedback and/or advice is greatly appreciated + If you enjoy this edition please subscribe so that you may access the next edition friction free. Thank you, and hope you have a great weekend! - The Mind Over Matter team (Here's a FAQ: Why bother reviewing free mindfulness apps? Well, the value of content one can find for free on such apps is truly mind-blowing. The only thing second to the value provided by these apps is their quantity: There are page upon page of similiarly featured apps on the Android and Apple app stores. As a non-profit aiming to democratise psycho-education, we feel obligated to compare and contrast the best of the best "free" mindfulness apps so that you can avoid decision fatigue and benefit from the profound value that can be unearthed from these apps and the practices they enable.) - - - #mindfulness #mindfulnessapps #themindfulnessapp #review #newsletter #longterm #meditation #krisbaumgren - - - Disclaimers: (A) These are not sponsored reviews. • We are grateful to reintroduce Tun Xiang Foo, who wrote several illuminating editions for our 'Mind UR Language' newsletter earlier in the year. As a recent Master's level graduate of Media, Communications and Culture, Tun brings a unique perspective to topics of mental health and mindfulness; his niches of expertise are language and communications, and the roles they play in empowering or stigmatising people—particularly those enduring mental health conditions. In the first edition he will share since restarting his efforts, he will discuss positive and negative media portrayals of mental health conditions. If you are interested in knowing more, follow Mind Over Matter and subscribe to the 'Mind UR Language' newsletter.
