Breaking the Stigma: Newcastle’s MHFA Graduates Last week we saw an all-male group in Newcastle complete their Mental Health First Aid training, stepping up to support their mates, families, and colleagues. It’s powerful to see men leading the way in conversations about mental health—breaking down stigma, recognising when help is needed, and being there when it counts. To these graduates: your commitment to creating a culture of support and understanding is inspiring. Thank you for being role models and advocates for mental health. 💙 A big thank you to Jodi McAlary for facilitating the two days. #MentalHealthFirstAid #MenSupportingMen #CommunitySupport #MiTraining

We’re pleased to celebrate Felicity, who has recently completed her business traineeship through MiTraining. Felicity was placed by our GTO, MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees and hosted at Ingot Foundry Marine Engineering, where she received her on-the-job training with the guidance of her Manager, Heather (pictured right). We are so proud of everything Felicity has achieved and are glad she was able to develop her skills and knowledge in such a supportive environment, like Ingot. We are ecstatic to announce that she has been offered a full-time role with Ingot, starting in the new year. A result we strive for at the completion of each business traineeship! Well done, Felicity!

ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence are finally starting to be understood as variations in human behavior, rather than deficits to "fix." This excellent piece from The Economist highlights how shifting our focus from diagnosis to creating supportive environments could unlock incredible potential in schools and workplaces. https://lnkd.in/gvcWX6J2 Neurodiversity and neuro-inclusive people leadership is an emerging space with new findings and changes being recommended almost daily. That's why MiTraining has put together a short survey to better understand your opinions and experience of Neurodiversity in Australian Workplaces. By completing the survey, you will be helping to advance understanding and action regarding neurodiversity at work in Australian. Please share with your networks. https://lnkd.in/g99fCUZU #neurodivergence #neurodiversity #neuroinclusivepeopleleadership #HRM #HR #psyhcosocialsafety #ADHD #ASD #austism #mentalhealth

A little while ago, the Chartered Management Institute in the UK found that that difficult conversations at work can place a particularly heavy emotional toll on workers. Up to 57% of workers said that they would do almost anything to avoid having a difficult conversation. The research also found that workers found it harder to ask their boss for a pay rise than severe a relationship with a partner. The stakes are even higher with regards to the impact on mental health and work-life satisfaction if there is conflict involved. If you find yourself in the 57% of workshops who avoid having difficult conversations, then Join Dr Alice Shires in this free 60-minute MiTraining webinar as she explains how to approach conflicts constructively, ensuring that your perspective is understood while also respecting the viewpoints of others. Dr Shires’ framework for dealing with conflict will help you to broach challenging topics with your colleagues and your supervisors in a calm and measured way. This same approach can also be applied at home, with your partner or spouse and even with your children. https://bit.ly/3zZAi9X MiTraining offers a free monthly webinar program to help you become your best self at work. We tackle the more complex workplace problems to help you develop future-focused skills. The next free webinar is at 12 pm on 14 November where Business and HR Coach Tony Perkins will help you enhance your value in the workplace through innovative problem-solving. https://bit.ly/3Uhja6q #leadership #growthanddevelopment #PD #HR #HRM #businessmanagement #mentalhealth #conflictatwork #difficultconversations #managingupwards
