𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟗𝟎 of #100dayschallenge : Learning from podcasts Today, Vijay Raj and I listened to an incredibly enriching podcast featuring Abhishek Poddar , a passionate advocate for art, culture, and heritage. The conversation delved deep into the evolving role of art in society and the immense potential it holds for shaping our identity and future. One of the most striking ideas was how art has gradually shifted from being an everyday part of our lives to something considered elitist, often valued more for its price than its meaning. Abhishek spoke about the intrinsic value of art ,the ability to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and connect people across generations. This reminded me that art is not just about galleries or auctions; it’s about expression and storytelling that define who we are as individuals and communities. A major focus of the discussion was the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) in Bangalore, a project Abhishek has championed for years. It was fascinating to hear how this museum was born out of a simple but profound question , Why should Indians have to go abroad to see great Indian art?.Abhishek’s determination to make art accessible to everyone led to the creation of MAP, blending technology and heritage in ways I hadn’t thought possible. For example, during the pandemic, MAP hosted a fully digital museum opening, bringing its exhibits to a global audience. It was a testament to how technology can bridge gaps and democratize access to culture. Another thing was how art often serves as the starting point for revolutions and social change. Artists, as Abhishek put it, are the ones living on the edge challenging norms, provoking thoughts, and sparking conversations that eventually shape the world. This perspective shifted how I see art ,it’s not just decorative but transformative, pushing society forward in unique ways. What resonated most with me was the idea that art is medicine for the soul. Whether it’s painting during challenging times, listening to music, or simply appreciating a sculpture, art has a unique way of healing and grounding us. During the pandemic, when the world was locked down, it was art that movies, music, books that kept many of us sane. It is a reminder of why art matters and why it’s worth preserving and celebrating.
