We welcome the Australian Banking Association (ABA)’s new Banking Code of Practice announced today. The code is a set of enforceable standards that helps hold our industry to account. It’s good news for customers. The updated code strengthens protections making banking fairer, clearer and more transparent.
Continuing to drive better outcomes for customers is the key focus of the ABA’s new Banking Code of Practice, being launched today. This new rule book for banks provides customers with safeguards that are not set out in law, including greater protections for those who are vulnerable including facing financial difficulty, small businesses and guarantors. Australians are being warned about a new scam trend involving fake pop-up SMSes that impersonates NAB and temporarily disables their phone. Read more about these scams, the red flags and ways you can protect yourself below. The warning follows NAB’s efforts to tackle impersonation scams, which show losses have reduced by 65% between 2023 and 2024. Reports of bank impersonation scams also decreased by 45% in the same period. We’re proud to be a long-term partner, helping grow the program on and off the field — giving kids around Australia the chance to stay active, have fun and build fundamental footy skills. “Valentine’s Day is a time when love is in full bloom and our florists are at the heart of it,” NAB Small Business executive Krissie Jones said. New data from Australia’s largest business bank, NAB, reveals spending at florists ramps up two days ahead of 14 February but doesn’t peak until Valentine’s Day itself when hasty hearts put the petal to the metal, with more than $21 million spent at local florists.
