We are thrilled to see the $1 billion Mount Piper Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) officially approved by the NSW Government—a game-changer for renewable energy and regional development in Lithgow! 🎉⚡ As an organisation deeply committed to sustainable solutions and community-focused outcomes, we’re proud to have supported this transformative project throughout its planning journey. From engaging local stakeholders to supporting community co-design of benefits, our team worked closely with EnergyAustralia and the Lithgow community to ensure this landmark project delivers long-term benefits. The Mt Piper BESS is a prime example of innovation meeting impact: - Powering over 320,000 homes and businesses during peak demand. - Creating 177 construction jobs and boosting local investment with a $2 million Voluntary Planning Agreement. - Strengthening NSW’s renewable energy grid with 500MW/2,000MWh of storage capacity. Congratulations to EnergyAustralia, the Lithgow community, and the Chris Minns Government on this critical step toward a sustainable future. About us
Nation Partners isn’t your typical consulting firm. From day one, our aim has been to build a business that people want to be a part of – a business that is driven by a sense of purpose and connection with its people, communities and the environment. Our purpose is to work with likeminded clients to influence a better and more sustainable future for society and the planet. With extensive experience in government, financial and professional services sectors, our team knows what it takes to build a business with the capabilities, skills and culture that will sustain us into the future. Our people are what set us apart – we have attracted some of the brightest minds from government and private sector organisations. Having the right people in our business allows us to work on some of the most complex projects, while also building a culture that engages our team and attracts new people. Since becoming a certified B Corporation in 2015, we have worked to balance profit with purpose and to create a business with a strong environmental and social conscience. In 2021, we established the Nation Partners Giving Fund to support communities across Australia to design and lead interventions that address the injustices they face, whilst tackling climate change. Through the fund, we’re committed to directing 4% of all profits to social and environmental causes carefully selected by our team. We are constantly searching for how we can do business better; with the principles of distributed leadership, empowerment and self-management at our core and a reward system in place that transparently sees us all share in the business’ success. Nation Partners acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and our work reaches. We acknowledge and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. It was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Our Director of Sustainability and Climate Change, Robert Turk, recently joined industry leaders at the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) Summit, where the 2024 theme 'Mission 1.5°' set the stage for transforming commitments into impact — a journey we're passionate about guiding our clients through at Nation Partners. Read Rob's insights from two days of powerful discussions on navigating the path ahead for climate investment and action in Australia.
It’s been an engaging couple of days at the Investor Group in Climate Change Summit, hosted against the backdrop of the US election result. Insights for me from numerous engaging panellists and sessions including the Honourable Chris Bowen MP and Matt Kean, were: ☀ We’re living the energy transition and effects of climate change, making significant inroads on one, while there’s work to be done attracting private investment in adaptation 📣 The existing corporate regulatory framework provides the means to hold corporations to account on greenwashing / hushing / chilling (new one for me) and reporting (insightful slide from Jillian Button) 🛫 There’s opportunity for Australia if renewable investment capital takes flight from the US 🌲 Natural capital to become a significant and climate and nature necessary investible asset class to diversify an investment portfolio (Mark Rogers) 📶 Based on the New Zealand experience, even for existing TCFD reporting, mandatory climate disclosure reporting has been a stretch for organisations and Australian organisation's should allow time to prepare. 🌎 Australia’s role in international climate negotiations has only increased in significance 🎶 The interlude music had a disturbing similarity to my go to Spotify playlist #dadtunes. #IGCCSummit24 #nationpartners

Last week, we had the honour of participating in an impactful event hosted by the Australasian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA) that explored the crucial role of Traditional Owner engagement in contaminated land projects. Our own Tyler Whitmarsh shared valuable insights, highlighting our commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships and driving positive change. Tyler's reflections from the evening underscore the importance of this work: "Engaging with Traditional Owners is not just a step in the process—it's fundamental to achieving self-determination and healing Country. This event marks the beginning of a much larger conversation our sector needs to have about Traditional Owner values and engagement. At Nation Partners, we believe that forming genuine partnerships with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties is key to unlocking sustainable solutions. We're dedicated to opening doors and initiating conversations that pave the way for meaningful collaboration in this space." By integrating Traditional Owner perspectives into contaminated land management, we're not only addressing environmental challenges but also contributing to cultural preservation and community empowerment. We're excited to continue driving these important discussions and working alongside our clients and partners to create positive, lasting impacts. #firstnations #sustainability #impact #community

At Nation Partners, we're committed to being catalysts for positive change, not only for the world around us but within our own organisation. We recently completed Diversity Awareness Training, reinforcing our dedication to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. Together, we learned about: ▪️ Understanding diversity and its benefits ▪️ Building awareness of what limits diversity ▪️ Recognising and challenging our own biases (unconscious or otherwise) ▪️ Making conscious decisions ▪️ Engaging in slow thinking to improve decision-making ▪️ Developing a common language around bias ▪️ Implementing organisational strategies to educate and empower each other ▪️ Removing barriers, acting genuinely, and driving authentic, non-performative change There were incredible outcomes from this session, and the training and creation of our working group are just the first steps in our ongoing journey to creating positive change. We're excited to see how it enhances our ability to drive meaningful impact not only for our team but also for our clients and across all our projects. #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #ContinuousLearning #PositiveChange
