I am so lucky to work with instrumentation that scientists and leaders in the biologics and gene therapies (BGT) fields actually get excited about! Earlier this month I attended the The Bioprocessing Network (BPN) along with a fringe event at the National Biologics Facility (NBF), co-hosted by Millennium Science. This was a great opportunity to discuss and demonstrate NBFs new solutions from Unchained Labs, the #Uncle and the #Stunner. A highlight was Ben Hughes' presentation to other BGT leaders on where these platforms sit within their state-of-the-art facility, and what led the National Biologics Facility and BASE Facility to invest in these platforms with the support of Therapeutic Innovation Australia. A huge thank you to all of those involved in these two events, Christopher Pickup for your brilliant ideas and organisation, Martha Perez, Ph.D. for flying down from the states to support us; The Bioprocessing Network's incredible committee; the National Biologics Facility for hosting, Therapeutic Innovation Australia for supporting and uniting Australian institutes with cutting edge equipment; and everyone who was willing to throw on a tee-shirt and have a bit of fun. Exciting times ahead!
🚀 Exciting Developments at UQ PEF ! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce the consolidation of our insect cell and mammalian tissue culture labs into a single, state-of-the-art tissue culture lab. This strategic move is just the beginning of a series of exciting developments at PEF! What’s New? 🔬 Increased Collaboration with the National Biologics Facility: We’re enhancing our partnership in the mammalian production space, leading to cost savings for our users and the University. 🏭 Dedicated Space for Downstream Operations: Our new lab layout will include a separate and dedicated area for all downstream operations, including multiscale tangential flow filtration (TFF) and continuous chromatography equipment. 🦠 Expanded Space for Bacterial Productions: More space will be available for our bacterial production team to increase our capacity for the highly sought-after bacterial production service, allowing us to support more projects and research initiatives. 🧬 In Vitro Cell-Free Protein Synthesis Service: A designated space will be established for this new service, which is on its way to PEF! Consolidating our tissue culture labs is only the first step. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance our capabilities and support groundbreaking research! #ProteinExpression #ResearchInnovation #UQ #Science #Biotechnology
