  • Today is #InternationalVolunteerDay—a global celebration to highlight the vital role volunteers play in addressing the world’s challenges. With millions of volunteers across Australia, this day is an opportunity to celebrate their remarkable contributions and acknowledge the profound impact they have nationwide. Nature Foundation are grateful for the support of our own volunteers and the positive impact they have on our conservation work. Over the past months, volunteers have assisted with: 💚 Event support 💚 Revegetation and watering 💚 Infrastructure and maintenance across the reserves 💚 Office support tasks 💚 Surveys and more. Given the nature of our work and locations, our volunteers get a break from outdoor activities at this time of year, so if you have been thinking about supporting Nature Foundation as a volunteer, now is a great time to start the registration process to be ready for 2025. You can learn more and register your interest at https://lnkd.in/gwR7srhH In the meantime, thank you to volunteers everywhere! #Volunteer #Volunteering Volunteering Australia

  • Today is #InternationalVolunteerManagersDay, and we're taking a moment to recognise and thank our Volunteer and Visitor Engagement Coordinator, Carolyn Pickering. Established in 1999, International Volunteer Managers Day is dedicated to recognising the vital work of volunteer managers and celebrate the profession of volunteer leadership, and over the past 25 years has become a global movement highlighting the unseen efforts that keep volunteer programmes running smoothly. Behind every great volunteer program stands dedicated managers, coordinators and leaders who make it all possible. They don’t just manage – they support, encourage, and inspire. Their work creates the foundation for safe and meaningful volunteering, not just across Australia, but worldwide. So to Carolyn and all of the volunteer managers—thank you! 🙏 📸 Carolyn (foreground) with Nature Foundation volunteers and staff at a fencing working bee at Watchalunga Nature Reserve #IVMDay #IVMDay24 #VolunteerManager #VolunteerManagers #VolunteersAustralia #VolunteeringAustralia | Volunteering Australia

  • Earlier this week, our Kids on Country™ team—Warren Milera and Katie Perry—presented at the Indigenous Wellbeing Conference in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Now in its fourth year, the Indigenous Wellbeing Conference celebrates Indigenous community, culture and identity to help advance social and emotional wellbeing for all First Nations Australian, Māori and Pasifika people. Warren and Katie's presentation entitled—The Value of Connection to Country for Health and Wellbeing—provided an overview of the Kids on Country™ Junior Ranger Program, and key learnings from it that might assist other educators and those working with young people. The breakaway session following Warren and Katie's presentation was a packed house. Well done Warren and Katie! You can read more about the presentation and program here: https://lnkd.in/guyQnNMU #KidsOnCountry #IndigenousWellbeingConference

  • Today marks 43 years since the original National Parks Foundation of SA Inc, which then became Nature Foundation was established. In 1981, four of Adelaide’s leading environmentalists, Dr Mark Bonnin, Warren Bonython, David Cleland and Dr Barbara Hardy AO, put their ideas together and decided to establish a voluntary organisation, the aim of which would be principally fundraising, and the funds from which would be mainly directed to the purchase of significant native bushland, as well as to assist the management of National Parks. A significant focus for the Foundation in its early years was contributing to the acquisition of land and passing it into secure and protected ownership to become part of the National Parks system. As the Foundation grew in size and expertise, it gained the ability to care for and manage large properties in its own right. Over the past 43 years, hundreds of people have participated directly, thousands have supported, and millions of dollars have been raised to conserve, restore and protect our native landscapes, and the precious flora and fauna that exist within them. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, though there is still so much to do. We greatly appreciate your support and remain focused on our mission to engage people, resources and good science to conserve the precious habitat of South Australia and beyond for future generations. #NatureConservation #NatureFoundation #Anniversary

  • September is #BiodiversityMonth, a time to celebrate, recognise and support biodiversity across Australia and the world. "Biodiversity" refers to all of the different types of "life" found in one location. This means the variety of different flora, fauna, fungi and micro organisms that comprise a natural habitat. These species all work together within their ecosystems to provide a balance in that particular location that supports healthy life. Changes in our environment, from human intervention, introduced threats, climate change etc can throw out this natural balance, negatively impacting the local ecosystems. Much of the work on our nature reserves is protecting and supporting these areas to regain their natural biodiversity for future generations (of all species). So while biodiversity is important every day, join us in giving it a bit of extra attention this month. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/gTXqtTTf #LoveOurBiodiversity #Biodiversity #NatureConservation
