Thanks to everyone who joined our online consultation on Wednesday, we hope you found it valuable. We'll share a link to the recording of the virtual event on our Reform Hub when it's available and we'll also be adding to the list of FAQs on the Hub based on the questions that were submitted. We will forward the questions about plans and eligibility of different therapies onto the NDIA, who manage these issues. Our online consultation on the legislative reforms outlined in Bill No. 2 is scheduled for 12pm AEDT this Wednesday 27 November 2024. This virtual event will feature Minister for the NDIS, the Hon. This week is International Fraud Awareness Week so we’re sharing our top fraud awareness tips. NDIS participants should be wary of fraud if they experience any of the following: ⚠️ Your plan funds are being used up faster than you thought, and you don’t know why ⚠️ You have paid for a product or service you never got ⚠️ A worker pretends to be you to change your plan, so they can take more money ⚠️ A provider or worker has pressured you to share secret information, like a password or PIN ⚠️ A provider has high staff turnover or has changed owners or business names, and you don’t know why it happened. All NDIS providers need to be aware of the risk of fraud in their organisation. To coincide with International Fraud Awareness Week (17 - 23 November 2024), we've launched new fact sheets for NDIS providers to help manage these risks: 👉 Managing the risk of fraud 👉 Working with participants affected by fraud. You can help by making sure that your work environment and culture promotes fraud awareness, your processes support fraud detection and reporting, and your people management systems provide strong expectations of your staff and regular training. The compliance action we take against providers and individuals who breach the NDIS Code of Conduct has always been published on our website, however, we know that the old downloadable spreadsheet system was cumbersome and difficult to search. We've now launched a new digital compliance register that allows users to search for NDIS providers and individuals to check if we've taken any compliance action against them. This is critical information for anyone looking to secure the services of a provider or worker. You can search the register by business or individual name, ABN and/or state, and you can filter your results by the type of compliance action taken, for example, a banning order or compliance notice. We're working with the National Disability Insurance Agency and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to identify advertising which may be in breach of the Australian Consumer Law. We're putting businesses on notice we’re focusing on problematic adverts targeting NDIS participants. "The ACCC is concerned that many businesses continue to advertise goods or services that appear on the list of ineligible supports in a way that suggests NDIS funding can be used to purchase them. We are also concerned that many NDIS providers are claiming that certain products or services are 'NDIS approved', 'NDIS funded' or otherwise NDIS endorsed when this is not the case." - ACCC Deputy Chair, Catriona Lowe. https://bit.ly/3YKOCLJ
