Finishing touches 🎨 The acoustic shed in Winsor Reserve recently had a makeover! With the help of Victorian artist, Tai Snaith, the shed now features local flora and fauna, adding some pop to the area. 🍃 Acoustic sheds are often used during tunnelling and are one way we’re helping minimise the impact of noise, light and dust while we build North East Link.

6.5km tunnels linking Melbourne's freeway network.
About us
North East Link is the biggest ever investment in Melbourne’s north-east – changing the way people move around Melbourne. Victoria’s longest road tunnels will fix the missing link in our city’s freeway network, take 15,000 trucks off local roads a day and slash travel times by up to 35 minutes. We’ll also complete the Ring Road in Greensborough, overhaul the Eastern Freeway, build Melbourne’s first dedicated busway and the North East Trail – more than 34km of walking and cycling paths. North East Link will create thousands of jobs during construction and early operation. Keep up to date on the latest career opportunities with the North East Link Authority at careers.vic.gov.au Queries answered Mon-Fri 9am-5pm or via 24/7 hotline 1800 105 105.

Social Enterprise Noun A business that operates to tackle social problems, improve communities, provide access to training and employment, or help the environment. This Social Enterprise Day we’re reflecting on the 36 organisations North East Link worked with last financial year. By focusing on marginalised or disadvantaged communities we hope to create meaningful opportunities that people can benefit from during the life of the project and beyond. Here are just some of the numbers achieved from the 36 businesses engaged 👇 #SocialEnterpriseDay #GEW2024

BRB 👋 After almost 25 years the iconic Sentinel Artwork along the Eastern Freeway has taken a holiday, allowing important works to start on an upgraded Doncaster Road and widening of the Eastern Freeway. Standing at about 13 metres high and weighing over 12 tonnes, the sculpture will be permanently relocated in consultation with Manningham Council. The sun’s clocking in on the M80 ☀️ More than 140 solar panel light towers are powering sites from Watsonia to Greensborough as part of Major Road Projects Victoria M80 Ring Road Completion. The light towers will generate 309 MWh of electricity over five years - the equivalent of lighting the MCG for more than 40 games of football! 🏟️ Nearly 21,000 tonne of carbon emissions will also be reduced by using these solar panels over temporary diesel-powered lights. Learn how we're working with Major Road Projects Victoria and our contractors to put an end to service strikes 👇
External factors such as inaccurate records and maps, unforeseen landscape changes and human error contribute to service strikes across our industry. Major Road Projects Victoria, together with North East Link, are working closely with construction partners to continuously improve processes and practices aimed at eliminating underground service strikes, which impact local communities, cause disruptions, delay project completion, and increase costs. Hear more from CEO, Duncan Elliott, and contractors Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C and BildGroup about our commitment in the video below. The energy is high at Lower Plenty 🏗️ With all tunnel support walls now complete at the Lower Plenty Road main interchange area, preparation works are underway for the breakthrough of the tunnel boring machines (TBMs). Both TBM Zelda and Gillian will break through at the interchange next year, creating the dual-lane entry and exit points to the North East Link tunnels. Once the TBMs relaunch at Lower Plenty Road and continue their journey to Bulleen, crews can start fitting out the area above and below ground and create the Borlase Reserve Parklands.
