$2.4M saved and more than 10 Olympic sized swimming pools of flood debris diverted from landfill. Our North Coast Operations team has played a key role alongside Richmond Valley Council in repurposing more than 12,000 tonnes of debris from the damaged Naughtons Gap Road into a sustainable resource for the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. The repurposed debris is now being used to strengthen rail trail pathways in the Casino to Bentley section, making the area safer for cyclists while supporting flood recovery. Collaboration and compliance brought this vital project to life, paving the way for a more resilient community. Faced with damage from the 2021–2022 floods, Naughtons Gap Road has been closed since 2021, but with our support and environmental compliance guidance, it’s set to reopen in December as part of the $15.8 million Betterment of Naughtons Gap Road project.
