We are thrilled to welcome The Hon. Victor Dominello to TBI as Senior Adviser.     Victor’s expertise is perfectly aligned with our work at TBI. A practitioner and thought leader, we look forward to his insights into leveraging technology to reimagine the state. We know he will help us inspire our clients and accelerate momentum in their countries. His passion for transformative initiatives, such as Digital ID, digital wallets, Verifiable Credentials, and AI-powered public services, will undoubtedly help TBI drive our mission forward.    As the former Minister of Customer Service and Digital in New South Wales, Australia, Victor spent 12 years as a Cabinet Minister, where he led groundbreaking initiatives in Digital Government, Innovation, Finance, and Aboriginal Affairs. His leadership in establishing the Department of Customer Service redefined public service delivery, earned international acclaim and boosted economic growth in NSW, which if considered as an independent nation, its economy would rank as the 37th largest globally. Victor was also the former Chair of the Australian Digital Identity Expert Panel.    He currently serves as Chair of the Services Australia and MyGov Independent Advisory Panel and as a Professor at the University of New South Wales. Yassas from Athens 🇬🇷 Here is some information about the European Digital ID Wallets. Every EU country is required to have a digital wallet for it’s citizens. Anticipated launch next 2-3 years. The regulations eIDAS2 and pilots are underway. Critically:. 🔹Data Security and Privacy Users will have complete control over their data, with information stored locally on the wallet app, ensuring no tracking or profiling. 🔹Versatile Document Storage The wallet will be capable of storing a wide range of digital documents, from academic credentials to transportation passes. 🔹Cross-Border Recognition: The wallet will be recognized by both public and private sectors across all EU member states, facilitating seamless access to services 🟣 There are 27 countries in the EU. 🟣 Could you imagine if Australia and New Zealand and each of the states and territories - could equally adopt cross border and sector recognition of digital wallets - within a similar 2-3 year timeline - the productivity gains alone would be amazing 🙏🙏

Leadership: I was never school captain. Nor class captain. I didn’t lead the football team or the debating squad. I wasn’t the most popular kid in school, nor did I spend much time socialising. Saturdays and school holidays were mostly spent on my parents’ market garden, watching them work tirelessly to provide for us. I had a small group of friends at school - but would often retreat to my quiet space where I could listen to music and think about life and what it’s all about. In many ways I am a closet introvert. While I enjoyed a good conversation, public speaking made me anxious. Self-doubt would creep in and take over. Academically, I was average. I bombed out of university and spent a long time unsure of what my life’s path would be. Eventually, I found my way to a diploma in law through the admissions board. I studied and worked really hard and eventually became a partner in a boutique law firm. Later, in 2008, at the age of 41, I was elected to state parliament, where I served for over 14 years. I never became Premier or Deputy Premier. My two significant leadership roles came as gifts: one from my community, who entrusted me to be their local MP, and another from successive Premiers who invited me to serve in their cabinets as a Minister. So why share this? Because I hope it offers some perspective. Many people, myself included, feel lost at different points in their life. Some are natural leaders; others are exceptional followers. Some are ordinary in both roles. And for most of us, life is a constant ebb and flow between leading and following. This is part one.
