Big shout out to the good people I connected with around the country and around the globe in 2024. Leading the Events Team for One Community means I meet some of the most kind hearted and creative people in Australia doing their best to make lives better for people with disability. I believe there are few things better than having a job that aligns with your purpose, I'm extremely grateful I have that and the flexibility to continue my passion as a motivational speaker and to do a few new things along the way. I'm fortunate to see the year out with good health and enthusiasm to reload and do it all again in 2025. These stats reminded me just how big my year was, life in my shoe sure is fun. Stay safe all and have a very Merry Christmas.

48 hours on and I love seeing that so many people had an amazing time at the 2024 Australian Disability Service Awards. It really brings a smile to my face. This event takes a long time to pull together, collaborating and coordinating with a HUGE number of people. The best part of my job is when I can finally meet so many of you in person at the event, it's a highlight. The downside is that there's so much going on, that I can't relax and have a drink with you! I echo the thanks to all of our sponsors from our earlier post, especially Maureen Lumello and Tender Loving Cuisine. Truly, without you all, this event could not happen: https://lnkd.in/eNYsE84R In addition, huge thanks to our independent Awards Panel, who I really enjoy working: Ryan Sherry, Di Pass, Belinda Sutherland, Mary Ingerton, Peter A Simpson and Darren Peters. I know as a Panel you are very conscious and work very hard to ensure fairness, integrity and transparency in the process. You volunteer your time simply because you see the value in these Awards and the positive impact they have on this industry and ultimately, the impact for people with disability. For this we are extremely grateful. Thanks to the One Community team for your support, in particular Dee Ortega - lots of work done. We're a great team and what a result! One Community created these Awards to acknowledge and celebrate the innovative, talented and passionate people who work to make a difference in the lives of people with disability. As always, inclusion in these awards is open to anyone and everyone who would like to nominate. We acknowledge the challenges being faced by both participants and providers. These challenges won't be solved in a day, a month or even a year. Because of this, it's important to recognise excellence and help inspire everyone to do better in the process. Inspiration and motivation can come from anywhere. I'm proud that we've highlighted a bunch of fantastic, positive stories that have the power to inspire our industry to continue to raise the bar and I'm proud, as a woman with a disability, of the role that I've played in this. Bring on ADSA 2025 💪
