Everyone over the age of 16 can register to donate their organs and tissues on the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR). ✅ It doesn’t matter how old you are, your lifestyle, or if you think you’re not healthy enough – you can still register. Specialist donation teams make assessments on a case-by-case basis, and there is every chance that some of your organs and tissues may be suitable for donation. Only 2% of Australians die in a way that makes it possible for them to donate their organs. This is why every potential donor is precious. Find out why it’s important to register and talk to your family about donation on the DonateLife website: https://lnkd.in/gupkxNm #DonateLife #OrganDonation #OrganAndTissueDonation #AODR

As the year draws to a close, we’d like to thank everyone who attended one of our Services of Remembrance during 2024. It’s always touching to hear from donor families and those who have received a transplant, and to take the time to thank and remember every organ and tissue donor 💐💗 #DonateLife #ServiceOfRemembrance #OrganDonation #OrganAndTissueDonation

The Organ and Tissue Authority is proud to be featured in the Australian Public Service Commission State of the Service Report 2023-24. The report highlights how the Australian Public Service works together to deliver better services for Australia. Our story, ‘Better matching for people on the organ transplant waitlist’, shines a spotlight on OrganMatch – Australia’s state of the art system that manages recipient waitlisting, and donor and recipient organ matching and allocation. The Organ and Tissue Authority works in partnership with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood to deliver and manage the OrganMatch system. OrganMatch is integral to helping us achieve our vision of saving and improving the lives of more Australians waiting for an organ transplant. OrganMatch is a world-class system that wouldn’t be possible without collaboration between state and territory governments, the DonateLife network, transplant units, tissue typing laboratories and hospitals.
