What an unforgettable evening the staff and participants recently enjoyed, celebrating 20 years of Ozcare’s Mozart program! The name Mozart stands for Movements and Arts, and this amazing program has been all about bringing joy through arts and recreational activities for people living with disabilities in our community. From the beginning, our amazing participants have been at the heart of everything we do, and they truly are the secret to our success. Sincere congratulations on 20 years - and here’s to many more joyful moments and friendships enjoyed together as part of our Mozart program.

Ozcare was privileged to celebrate a remarkable milestone this month, honouring six centenarians who call our Noosa Heads Aged Care facility home. Together, our centenarians have witnessed over six centuries of history, each bringing a rich tapestry of experiences and wisdom to the community. Facility Manager, Elizabeth Dodd, said the centenarians, whose ages span from 100 to 103, are living testaments to resilience, endurance and the power of positive living. “Their stories are not just personal narratives but chapters in the broader history of Australia, filled with lessons of perseverance, joy, and community spirit,” Elizabeth said. Our remarkable residents include those hailing from Latvia, Poland, New Zealand and regional New South Wales. Four of our centenarians shared heartwarming memories of childhood summers and Christmas traditions – offering a nostalgic glimpse into a simpler world full of cultural riches. George, 101, Vilma, 100, Ruth, 103, and Ada, 100, recount vivid recollections of life during tumultuous war times, summers filled with adventures and the simple joys of Christmas in days gone by. We thank them each for sharing their stories with us and wish them, and all our residents, a wonderful Christmas and joyful festive season surrounded by nothing but love and laughter. #centenarians #history #perseverance #wisdom

It was a heartwarming day for residents and staff at Magdalene Villa Aged Care Facility when they were visited by children from nearby St Mary MacKillop Catholic School. The children arrived very excited to perform for everyone and following a beautiful performance, spent time reading and colouring in with residents. Such precious moments creating such big smiles! It’s always heart-warming to see the delight on faces young and old alike when our intergenerational activities are underway and this most recent event was no exception. Thank you to all involved for making this such a memorable occasion. #intergenerationalfun #stmarymackillop #trebonne #magdalenevilla

The residents of Magdalene Villa Aged Care Facility recently brought flowers to the cemetery in observance of All Souls' Day. Also called The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, All Souls’ Day is a day of prayer and remembrance for the faithful departed, observed by Christians on 2 November. Residents from Magdalene Villa made beautiful little posies to honour their loved ones, and we thank them for allowing us to share these touching images. Established by the Canossian Sisters, Magdalene Villa Aged Care Facility is located in Trebonne, only 8 klms from the township of Ingham. For the Sisters, caring for people in need is central to who they are, and we are blessed that they remain an integral part of Magdalene Villa. #AllSoulsDay #MagdaleneVilla #CanossianSisters #Trebonne

This stunning newly commissioned artwork for Rendu Towers Retirement Village was designed and created by Australian artist, Sarah Daly. Titled ‘The Autumn Diptych’, Sarah said the process of creating this artwork allowed her to connect with residents of Rendu Towers at a deeper level. Through her conversations and interactions, Sarah discovered the types of art they appreciated, which ultimately inspired her commission and resulted in this striking end product. Sarah is an Australian artist and artificial intelligence researcher. Primarily a traditional painter, she incorporates generative AI into her creative process. Sarah takes pride in creating art that tells the story of who we are and where we live, fostering a deeper connection between people and their surroundings. Our sincere thanks to Sarah for designing such a unique and meaningful feature which we know will be appreciated by our residents and staff for years to come. #australianartist #SarahDaly #RenduTowers #newstead #artwork

It was all smiles and good vibes in Toowoomba at the recent thank-you function for Year 12 School-Based Traineeship Employers. Bella from St Ursula's College is pictured (at right) alongside her mother, Lora (at left), and Tanya, our Operations Manager (centre). Bella recently completed her Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) and is a valued member of our Toowoomba team. With plans to further her education at university, where she will study nursing, we’re so excited to see where Bella’s pursuits lead her. We couldn’t be happier to be playing a part in her journey and we look forward to cheering her on as she pursues her goals – well done Bella! #toowoomba #schoolbasedtrainees #stursulascollege #meaningfulcareers

Let’s each take a moment today to remember, honour and reflect on the bravery of all those who served and the families and loved ones who continue to feel their absence. Lest we forget. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget

A huge congratulations to Cory, Client Services Assistant at Ozanam Villa Aged Care Facility in Clontarf, for winning our Spring Ozheart award! Cory began his journey with Ozcare at the age of 17 and has devoted almost a decade to bringing joy and happiness to those around him. Although busily pursuing his cooking apprenticeship, Cory always makes time to build meaningful connections with our clients, many of whom lovingly view him as a grandson. It’s clear from the volume of nominations received from both staff and residents that what Cory does truly makes a difference in the lives of those around him. His unwavering commitment to our residents, the many kindnesses he shows, and the bright and bubbly manner in which he delivers it all, is enormously appreciated. It’s all these qualities that make our Ozhearts such special people and why we set aside time every quarter to publicly acknowledge and celebrate their efforts.
