PCCS champion people’s strengths, so we’re right behind the 2024 IDPwD theme ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.’ The 3min Ambassadors’ video is terrific with some inspiring personal quotes! Take a look at https://ow.ly/yKuS50UhLvK We live in a diverse society with 1 in 5 Australians living with a disability, so it’s essential that we’re inclusive. PCCS empowers people living with long term injuries, chronic health conditions and serious mental ill health to practically manage their lives. #IDPwD #InclusionMatters #DisabilityLeadership #LeadershipForAll #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityEmpowerment

Half of all adult mental health challenges in Australia take root before the age of 14, yet more than half of children struggling with mental ill-health aren't receiving the professional help they need. This highlights an urgent need to rethink how we support young people. Social prescribing offers a fresh, community-focused solution to nurture the well-being of our youth. Grounded in the idea that 'it takes a village to raise a child,' social prescribing connects young people with enriching activities in their community, such as sports, arts, social groups, or nature-based programs. These connections are more than just fun—they can significantly boost mental and physical health, build social skills, and nurture confidence and self-esteem. By helping young people access these resources, we not only support their individual growth but also strengthen the bonds within our communities. It’s a powerful reminder that raising happy, healthy children is a shared responsibility, and a connected community is the foundation for their success. #socialprescribing #mentalhealth #worldchildrensday #worldchildrensday2024 #support #inclusion

On World Mental Health Day we’re reminded to strengthen our personal and community connections for positive mental health and wellbeing. Moments of connection can be simple but so rewarding! PCCS supports people with mental health challenges through our 'Well Together Groups' in Sydney and the Gold Coast. The groups encourage social participation to build wellbeing inclusion and resilience. Activities include art, photography, yoga and permaculture. More than 2 in 5 Australians experience mental health challenges in their lifetime. Today, PCCS attended the Mental Health Expo at Parliament House, Canberra which was co-hosted by Mental Health Australia and Parliamentary Friends of Youth Mental Health. This morning, The Honourable Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care emphasised the importance of engaging people with a lived experience of mental ill-health and their carers, in the design and delivery of mental health services. Research shows that ‘lived experience provided services’ significantly contribute to an improved sense of hope, empowerment and social inclusion for those accessing services. Our mental health is impacted by many factors including our personal #relationships and community #connections. Humans are wired to connect! PCCS, Australia's leader in social prescribing, is all about meaningful connections. This year’s Mental Health Australia’s theme is Meaningful Connections Matter, highlighting the importance of caring for our mental health through social connection. We can foster meaningful personal connections as well as tapping into our wider community which adds to our sense of belonging. Speakers at the Expo included · The Honourable Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care, · Kylea Tink MP, Co-chair, Parliamentary Friends of Youth Mental Health · Carolyn Nikoloski, CEO, Mental Health Australia, and · Jordan Frith, Consumer Co-Chair, National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum https://lnkd.in/gRK2PEaw Mental Health Australia #mentalhealth #socialprescribing #wellbeing #livedexperience
