The old Tiger Lil’s site in the Perth CBD to reopen summer 2025 as Lil’s Rooftop & Bar After closing at the height of the pandemic in 2020, Tiger Lil’s on Murray Street in the CBD will officially rise from the ashes as Lil’s Rooftop & Bar, opening in early 2025. Looking to usher in a “fresh, grown-up atmosphere for work and play”, Lil’s will be mixing contemporary pub vibes across two spaces. Linking up with Rotheloman architects, the venue will feature a rooftop zone above a groundfloor bar, with a total capacity of 600. The Ground Floor Bar will feature “expertly crafted cocktails, fantastic food, or a relaxed post-work meet-up in a modern, inviting setting with late-night DJs”, while the Rooftop Oasis is aiming for a “little Tuscany taste right on Murray Street.”

Public transport throughout Perth and regional WA will be free for the summer The WA Government has announced the return of free public transport for the summer festive period, kicking off on December 14 and running until February 5. The $14 million initiative encourages Western Australians to leave the car at home while relieving cost-of-living pressures. Available to all SmartRider users, transport on trains, buses and ferries is included in the initiative – extending throughout the Perth metro area as well as regional WA. While fares will be free, passengers will still need to tag on and off to access free travel. Parking at METRONET stations will also be free during this period to passengers who tag on with their SmartRider at parking stations.

Perth 2050 Report: Four day work weeks, AI assistants, space industry… flying cars!? The results of a wide ranging survey are in, with the question; “What do we want to be when we grow up?” The Committee for Perth teamed up with Scitech to paint a picture of what we can expect in 25 years time, when the population is predicted to reach 3.5 million. More densification and active transport, along with a massive ferry network in Perth. There’ll also be a shift away from mining to other key industries in WA, including space tourism and research. Around 1,400 West Aussies were surveyed, from political and business leaders to high school students, and the results show residents are cautiously optimistic about 2050, with 68 per cent saying they’re excited about the future. Respondents think biometric security, personal AI assistants and driverless cars are the top technologies we’ll have in place, while 59 per cent believe we’ll be flying supersonically and nearly half say flying cars will be a possibility. Three new tiny cabins have launched in Denmark! Taking up residence at Raintree near Denmark, the three new cabins are nestled on a paddock overlooking two of the town’s biggest drawcards – Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks. They’re perched on regenerative cattle farm, Raintree Farm, which is owned and operated by the Birkbeck family and home to The Dam restaurant and Cannabis Botanical Distillery. The local link up means you can enhance your stay with some awesome add-ons and extras, focused on locally-grown, high quality produce, and taking the hassle out of meal time.

One of Leederville's most unique homes is for sale! Resolutely practical, yet resoundingly romantic: industrial gem Glick House has hit the market (and our hearts)! Located on Leederville’s Tennyson Street, the home was originally created for celebrated Western Australian artist Rodney Glick by architects Geoff Warn and Jane Wetherall – now directors of With Studio, (formerly known as Donaldson Warn), with completion in early 1999. Now heritage listed as an “award winning and striking example of Late Twentieth Century Functionalist style”, we’re struck by how well the design translates to contemporary design sensibilities, 25 years later. One of Mount Hawthorn's most interesting homes is on the market! If obsessing over State of Kin’s stunning homes is a crime… Well, lock us up and throw away the keys! One of our favourites has to be the oh-so-groovy, curvaceously cool Sweep House, which we first wrote about back in February of 2023 – and we’re thrilled to report that it’s now on the market! We were immediately captivated by the retro influences – from porthole windows evoking Australian ’80s Art Deco revival and hit and miss brickwork evoking ’60s Palm Springs glamour. Inside, the centrepiece of the home has to be that grand white spiral staircase, its crisp serpentine form twisting past the moon-like round window and evoking the iconic twists of the Guggenheim. Plush carpet evokes the same tonality of the travertine used throughout the home, its velveteen-like softness contrasting the polished stone’s texture. Photos by Finesse Property Photography
