Last week, we celebrated a significant milestone - our first successful e-conveyancing pilot transaction for transfers in Tasmania led by the team at Debbie Hutton Conveyancing in Devonport! Debbie Hutton, owner of the namesake Conveyancing firm had been looking forward to e-conveyancing since she registered her interest in PEXA back in 2017. “There was pure excitement here watching the bars turn green,” she said. Two conveyancers, Tanya and Michaela went head-to-head to see who would progress first. “A real ‘moon landing’ moment,” said Debbie. Reflecting on their first PEXA experience, Debbie noted, “the registration and onboarding process was easy to do. The platform is intuitive, and the help button provides instant step by step instructions.” “We’re feeling confident about using PEXA moving forward. Last week, PEXA HQ was adorned in red for our celebration of Lunar New Year.   Our people were treated to a festive banquet to ring in the Year of the Snake as part of DEI at PEXA. PEXA’s latest Property and Mortgage Insights Reports deliver a comprehensive view of mortgage and property transaction trends across NSW, QLD, VIC, WA and SA for the 2024 calendar year. Australia’s property market has taken two distinct paths, shaped by state policies and investor behaviour. While some states saw steady growth, others faced a wave of investor sell-offs. In Victoria, changes to property taxes and regulations prompted investors to exit the market, leading to a shift in property values. Meanwhile, Brisbane’s market surged ahead, with the median property price in 2024 now surpassing that of Melbourne—marking a shift in Australia’s real estate landscape. Today, PEXA Group’s Board of Directors announced that Russell Cohen will join PEXA as Group Managing Director and CEO. Russell is a dynamic leader and seasoned executive with deep expertise in scaling platform businesses internationally. Currently serving as Group Managing Director of Operations at Grab. Commenting on Glenn King’s contribution, PEXA Group Chairperson Mark Joiner said: “On behalf of the PEXA Board, I wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Glenn for his passionate stewardship of our company. Glenn successfully led the growth of our core Exchange business, which now has around 90 per cent national coverage and is a critical part of Australia’s property ecosystem. He guided PEXA through its listing on the Australian stock exchange in 2021 and has since overseen the establishment of PEXA’s growth business and expansion into the UK, including several strategic acquisitions. We wish Glenn well in his next chapter.” Commenting on Russell Cohen’s appointment, Mark Joiner said: “Mr Cohen is a dynamic leader and seasoned executive with deep expertise in scaling platform businesses. He has achieved strong commercial transformation across multiple countries, with market leader Grab. In our search for our new Group MD and CEO, we focussed on selecting a candidate with clear strategic capabilities, a track record in commercial performance and innovation, deep regulatory and industry engagement, and a strong people and customer focus.” Mr Cohen will succeed Mr King who will step down from his role on 28 February 2025, following the release of the Group’s results for the half year ended 31 December 2024. PEXA Group Chief Financial Officer Scott Butterworth will assume the role of Acting Group MD and CEO from 1 March to 31 March 2025. Mr Cohen will commence his tenure on 31 March 2025. As part of men’s health month at PEXA and in recognition of International Men's Day, we invited bronze medal boxer Harry Garside to join us for a discussion on men's health. Harry, who is known for challenging traditional masculine stereotypes, shared how boxing taught him to embrace vulnerability. His key perspectives: 🥊 True masculinity is about being caring, emotionally available, and putting family first - not just physical strength. 🥊 Find healthy outlets to work through feelings of insecurity rather than suppressing them. For Harry, boxing provided that outlet. 🥊 Don't be afraid to forge your own definition of what it means to "be a man" based on your values, not societal expectations.
