As a longstanding member of the Rural Fire Service, Dick was a mentor and passionate advocate for its services. His passing was felt strongly by the Hawkesbury community, who regarded him highly and came to show their final respects. Uniformed members of the #RFS took this opportunity to show their admiration for a comrade who stood shoulder to shoulder with them in the toughest of times with a guard of honour. The guard of honour has long been a part of how we show admiration for someone making their final journey; once again, a group or community comes together and stands shoulder to shoulder in the toughest of times. The centrepiece for Ralph's coffin was a beautifully colourful arrangement of fruits and flowers. It was a tribute to his life's work as a highly regarded agriculturalist and orchardist. Ralph was recognised worldwide as a trailblazer for his innovative approach to orchard fruit production.   Even during his retirement on the coast, far from his orchards in Batlow, he transformed his new backyard to provide locally produced fruit for the area.   An unmistakable din of cicadas filled the air in his home orchard as family and friends gathered to say their final goodbyes to a man who had achieved so much in the field he loved. Would you serve Paella at a funeral? Eileen was creative and communicative and connected with friends and family from her native England, Australia and worldwide. Her memorial was reflective of all those marvellous elements and more. In a ceremony filled with live music, heartfelt words, and displays of Eileen's creativity, those in the room were also blessed with the smells of a giant paella being made. The ceremony was held in a local Surf Lifesaving Club, where the cooking area sat alongside the function room. As the memorial service began, so did the cooking. By the end, all the attendees had their hearts full of memories of Eileen, knowing they would soon have their bellies full of a beautiful paella made in her honour. We believe Eileen would have been proud of this unique celebration of her caring and devotion. In support of our Charity Partner, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), Picaluna team members volunteered to wrap Christmas presents to raise money for their cause.  This incredible organisation is dedicated to improving literacy rates among Indigenous Australians by providing books, resources, and publishing opportunities. They empower remote communities to create and share their stories and foster cultural pride, language preservation, and educational opportunities. Through their efforts, the ILF is helping bridge the literacy gap many Indigenous children face.  We're proud of the charity partnerships we have formed, and we will continue to donate 5% of our profit to our partners in the future. For hundreds of years, the beauty of a red rose has symbolised love and grief in a way few things can.
