  • The dream S-TEAM ✨💙 Last month, we were part of the STEAM Fest 2024 at Hedland Senior High School. Some of our harbour masters, engineers, marine pilots, mapping specialists, ICT and environment employees attended to explain their work to students and other community members Our interactive harbour display table was a hit, showcasing the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills within the maritime industry. A massive thank-you to all our staff who participated! 🧑🏫🌊

  • Coming in to land! 🚁🚢🌊 Every time a vessel visits the Port of Port Hedland, a highly trained Marine Pilot is on board to navigate it safely in and out of the Port. The Port has a challenging, tidally constrained marine channel and Marine Pilots play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of Pilbara Ports operations. Check out the footage below of a Marine Pilot landing on a large bulk carrier, ready to bring it safely into port.

  • To recognise the significance of the Aboriginal values within the Port of Dampier, located on Murujuga country, we have proudly renamed two of our existing port roads. Our First Nations Engagement team worked with Mardudhunera Elder and Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) Assistant Ranger Service Manager Peter Cooper to identify local Aboriginal names that represent marine fauna present in the waters. Vitenbergs Drive 👉 Bilangara Drive Bilangara, pronounced bil-an-ga-ra, comes from the Ngarluma language and means manta ray. Lewis Court 👉 Yirraman Court Yirraman, pronounced yirra-man, comes from the Mardudhunera language and means deep sea mullet. If you are interested in learning more about the significance of Murujuga, take a look at the World Heritage application, submitted by MAC on behalf of the Traditional Custodians of Murujuga with the support of the Australian Government 👉 https://bit.ly/4fFZOR9
