And that's a wrap on Circularity 2024! If you're wishing to relive all the highlights from an action-packed second day of the conference, or discover them for the first time, check out our summary of all the sessions here: https://lnkd.in/gmfwKq4T. Quote of the day goes to Ashleigh Morris (GAICD) with this apt reminder: “The CE is the oldest concept on planet earth. All nature operates on the principles of circularity. We humans should abide by the same principles.” #circulareconomy #circularity2024

Positive environmental actions for everyone.
About us
Planet Ark Environmental Foundation is an Australian not-for-profit organisation with a vision of a world where people live in balance with nature. Established in 1992, we are one of Australia’s leading environmental behaviour change organisations with a focus on working collaboratively and positively. Our campaigns and programs build on our positive and action-based philosophy to work with a broad range of individuals, schools, councils and workplaces. In short, we define ourselves by what we are for rather than what we are against. This approach strikes a strong chord amongst the millions of Australians who take part in our campaigns each year. *We are non confrontational* At Planet Ark, we want to offer you positive environmental actions. We'll inspire you with ideas, solutions and suggestions for how you can improve your environmental impact... and give you a big pat on the back when you do! *We are non-political* We want to see people, businesses and governments working together to protect our planet's ability to thrive. This means we will work with a range of businesses across a number of sectors and we endeavour to work with whichever government is in office to bring about genuine environmental change. *We are a leading Australian charity* As a small charity, Planet Ark relies on support from the community to maintain our program of essential campaigns and donations continue to form a critical component of our growth. We are lucky to receive generous financial support from a range of businesses and government groups who are committed to a future in which people live in balance with nature.

"A pathway towards sustainable resource use, one that enhances human well-being while safeguarding our planet’s boundaries, is possible—but urgent action is needed." – Dr. Janez Potocnik UN Environment Programme International Resource Panel (IRP) Co-Chair Dr Janez Potočnik gave an inspiring keynote on the transformative potential of sustainable resource management this morning, sharing invaluable insights into the global resource landscape and the innovative approaches needed to achieve a sustainable future. In the morning's other session, members of Australia's Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group including John Thwaites AM, Paul Klymenko, Dr Dominique Hes, and Larry Marshall shared insights from the group's consultations with government. This included challenges and opportunities in Australia's circular economy landscape as well as emerging strategies, collaborative initiatives and key trends in sustainability. Practical action is the focus over the next two days at Circularity, Australia's leading circular economy conference, which is being presented today and tomorrow at Doltone House in Sydney. About 300 circularity enthusiasts from government, business, industry, research, education and consulting are gathered to drive Australia's circular economy transition, thanks to principal sponsors ANZ and Sustainability Victoria. Stay tuned for more updates as the delegates spark dialogue and action towards a circular, sustainable future for Australia. #circulareconomy #sustainability #Circularity2024

Planet Ark and the Australian Circular Economy Hub were thrilled to announce our newest partnership with Boston Global at #Circularity2024 today as we look to launch Australia’s first dedicated circular economy investment fund, the Circular Future Fund, in early 2025. To keep global heating below 1.5 degrees, the world must reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with a 45% reduction by 2030. Research by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation shows that 55% of the journey to net zero will be achieved by transitioning our energy systems to renewable sources. The remaining 45% must be addressed by moving from the linear 'take, make, dispose' model of resource use to a circular economy. The Circular Future Fund is a joint venture marrying the trust, knowledge and expertise of Planet Ark with the acumen of a world class financial institution with a history of purpose driven ESG investment in Boston Global. Investments by the Circular Future Fund will seek to ensure positive environmental and financial outcomes through investment in decarbonisation, circular economy infrastructure, regenerative agriculture and nature repair and solutions for toxic pollution, food and agricultural waste and much more. We know our current approach to resource use is unsustainable, but how do we transform this system to enable a resource-efficient society? Access to natural resources - land, water, oil, gas, minerals, and precious metals - is closely linked to the wellbeing of nations. Unsustainable resource use is a key driver to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, but change is possible. Hear from speaker Janez Potočnik, Co-Chair of UNEP’s International Resource Panel, on how we can shift the way resources are used in this in-person and online talk from the CSIRO. Janez will explore the transition from a linear, extractive model to circular, resource-efficient societies and demonstrate how economic development and human well-being can be decoupled from increasing resource consumption and environmental degradation. National Recycling Week may have come to an end, but our good habits don’t have to! This year’s theme “Join the Cycle” was about helping Aussies keep valuable materials in circulation. But this theme doesn't have to end! We can incorporate it into our everyday lives by following the “Rs”. ♻️ National Recycling Week was made possible by Major Sponsor Coles Group, Associate Sponsors Coca-Cola South Pacific, MobileMuster Program, Tetra Pak, Media Partner Seven West Media and Supporting Sponsors Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) and Cartridges 4 Planet Ark. #circulareconomy #circularity #wastemanagement #sustainability #recycling
