Getting female leaders quoted & seen in Australian media coverage using the power of PR and media storytelling

About us

Women experts are cited in Australian media only 30% of the time compared to men. Our mission is to help close that 30/70 gap. We equip, represent and pitch female spokespeople for media and speaker opportunities. We run sustained and strategic PR campaigns for companies and causes with female leadership. We focus on traditionally male-dominated sectors where the media gender gap is highest with strong career possibilities for emerging female leaders like HealthTech, PropTech, Law, Indigenous + Social Affairs, and STEAM. We offer small group Masterclasses (Advanced + Emerging), PR retainer partnerships, Project PR services, workshops, and speaker services.

  • Every day we're working hard here at Priage Media to get more women seen, heard and quoted in Australian media. Today it's been a privilege to amplify the powerful voice of changemaker against systemic financial abuse, Catherine Fitzpatrick, founder of Flequity Ventures and Adjunct Associate Professor UNSW School of Social Sciences. Credit must also go to leaders like DFSV Commissioner Micaela Cronin, Optus' Maurice McCarthy, Prof the Hon Verity Firth AM, BillWill's Colin Jowell, IAG's Christine Stasi and Suncorp Group's Lisa Harrison who stood with Catherine in support of respectandprotect. It takes an urban village! #powerofpr

“No business wants to be a safe haven for abusers,” Catherine Fitzpatrick said in this powerful article today in Women's Agenda. “So it’s really important that every business in Australia says they don’t want to be part of the problem, and that they won’t stand by and let their products be misused for harm.” So darn proud to have supported Catherine Fitzpatrick and Flequity Ventures behind the scenes to get this story told nationally by media today: 21 Australian businesses unite against financial abuse - with Optus, Suncorp Group, IAG, and UNSW among corporate first movers pledging stand against DV perpetrators'. Deepest thanks to 'Mia' (not her real name), for her bravery in speaking to media in support of Catherine's relentless drive to get more businesses to take a positive duty of care that's enforceable against abusers. Jump onto respectandprotect.au if you want to get involved yourself. Meanwhile, grateful for the power of PR to impact real social change. https://lnkd.in/gdN7Ekr5 #prbosslady #powerofpr #finance #respectandprotect

Mary Wells Lawrence, the first woman to own and run a major national advertising agency, passed away this weekend at age 95. The real life inspiration for Mad Men’s Peggy Olson, Mary Wells Lawrence, is an advertising industry legend. Lawrence revolutionized drug advertising, automobile advertising, airline advertising, and television advertising. In 1966, she started a business from the ground up and just 15 years later, became the first female CEO of a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Throughout her remarkable career, Lawrence played a pivotal role in steering notable campaigns such as “Trust the Midas touch,” “I ❤️ NY,” and Alka-Seltzer’s “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.” Mary Wells Lawrence’s career shattered glass ceilings, redefined the possibilities for women in advertising and paved the way for future generations of ambitious visionaries. Join us in the #EqualityLounge at #CannesLions2024, the International Festival of Creativity, as we honor trailblazing women in the field and speak with our community of conscious leaders who are at the forefront of #advertising today: https://lnkd.in/gCikDiPH

  • Know any Boss Production Managers?

I need the most super-humanly organised, clear thinking, administratively gifted yet creative integrated PR + content campaign #producer or #productionmanager that ever walked the earth. She needs to embrace chaos as an opportunity to bring order. She can write briefs, chase deliverables, negotiate changes and proof-read like a Boss, while coming up with new ways to cast an interstellar story. #STEM vibe experience an absolute plus. Oh, if she can start onboarding next month, even better - squeezing in about a day's work equivalent per week, ready to level-up to part-time about July. Tag your most amazing recommendation/s, or DM me for more info.

  • There's no age limit on the brilliant females we love getting in the media here at Priage Media! To mark "Girls in ICT" day this week for Grok Academy, we introduced EducationDaily to Michaela A Loukas, a 16-year old "well-balanced nerd" whose been winning coding awards since age 10. Michaela is a big fan of Grok Academy's e-learning platform on which she's created a lot of projects, like a Python loan calculator and MicroBit ‘smartwatch’. Fave quote from Michaela for all the STEM + Education Bosses reading along: “[STEM, and specifically coding] will revolutionise every field – #medicine, #law, #architecture, #business. A lot of the fear around #STEM #coding and computer science in general that it will make everyone redundant or that AI will replace human skills and anyone who studies it at university will be without a job. I don’t subscribe to that at all. You will still need human intervention. It not only underscores every industry, but it will enhance every field and will make or break the employability of people in the future.” The future is in safe hands, and smart minds! Thanks for the inspirational story Claire Halliday! Credit also to one of Priage Media's fave Publicity Bosses Roxy Sinclair, and Adrianne Kern for the talent and story spotting for Grok Academy.

  • Here's an existential 🐓 or the🥚scenario for you: Which comes first: confidence or competence? ❓🤔 Mindset matters. My son is a natural athlete. He had his high school athletics carnival today. It simply didn't occur to him he wouldn’t clear the high jump bar. It’s not a case of ‘if’ but ‘how high’ he’ll go. I had that same mentality joining Text 100 International (now Archetype) in the late 1990s. Of course I’ll be an account director, not 'if' but 'when'. Of course I’ll work overseas, not 'if' but 'where'. Of course I'll get better results, not 'if' but 'how much' better. It’s a mindset. But here’s the thing: confidence without competence is just arrogance. But conversely, competence without confidence is, well, excruciating - as a parent, and a boss anyway. And certainly as an advocate for more women speaking up and standing out in the media. What if my naturally athletic son didn't have a go today. If he sat on the sidelines, cause there were others likely faster than him so 'what's the point?'. Excruciating. He'd have missed the ribbons he's just come home with for starters. Honestly, what's keeping *you* on the bench? No need to comment, but I do invite you to reflect on whether you have doubts in your competence, or wobbly in your confidence - 'cause there's ways to improve both, and we need you in the race! #timeforchange #womenrising #womeninbusiness #standout #speakup

So you can make your own plans for how to ride them, the PR wave patterns to expect from the WGEA gender pay gap release today will likely be: - first 24-48 hours: news outlets will focus on the biggest gaps. The big brands, with the largest workforces, will be in the spotlight because their numbers are bigger and their names are well known to most readers. If you have an above national average gap but not a mainstream big brand, my advice is to lay low like a 1900s well behaved child: only speak when spoken to. - if you have a *well below* average result, meaning single digits, close to parity or zero gap — get out there, insist on being heard. It’s a critical counterbalance. Message me asap if you need help to get on media radar. - vertical media are deep diving on the numbers and creating their own bespoke articles for industry now. From 48-72 hours, more balanced reporting possible. So if you have an above average gap you may have opportunity for a more nuanced discussion, leaning toward solutions, but the focus will still be on the negative/biggest gap. - 72 hours plus is when the more positive angles will start being heard in my opinion: what can be done to close the gaps, insights on solutions etc. If you’re a consultant, HR advisor whose closed the gap, a company with single digits to parity, this is when you go hard. Offer byline and opeds, interviews for radio call-ins, feature story angles. It’s a critical and historic reporting cycle. Follow along here.
